Did you know that people cut those giant puffball mushrooms into thick slices, season them, then grill them like steaks?

I was vaguely aware of it. The grilled ones in that video look delicious.

I'd love to forage for them myself, but I'd rather not die a horrible, painful death from poisoning.

If you live by a wooded area, they're really easy to spot. I always just punted them as a kid though. Had no idea they were edible. Now I really want to try a puffball steak.

There are usually foraging groups in areas where foraging is available. You should definitely not do it by yourself

I found a 8 incher in my yard and tried pan frying slices of it. It had no flavor, zero, nip, nada. I'll stick with regular store bought mushrooms unless I can find something better, like hen of the woods.

just keep your mouth shut. when politics or some sort of 'social injustice' comes up just be silent or cleverly change the subject when the time is right. If ever asked about your direct political opinions, always say 'I don't really follow politics' etc. etc. If pressed why, just say 'it was never really that interesting to me'. Do this and you can basically be on friendly terms with anyone. No need to isolate yourself because people don't agree 100% on the same things you do.
