>what's a good ratio of powder to water?
I usually take two chashaku scoops of matcha and fill the bowl by intuition with somewhere between 70 and 100ml, depending on how thick I want my matcha to be.

>any whisking tips?
I like to ad just a little bit of water to the bowl first before adding the powder and gently whisking it in a circle to avoid little chunks. Then I add the rest of the water (boiled water that's cooled down to around 80-85°C). Hold the whisk between your thumb, index, middle and ring finger. Whisk in an "M"-Shape from one side to the other and back. Use your wrist, not your whole arm. Whisk fast for about 20 seconds but make sure not to scratch the bottom of the bowl.

Just got some nice matcha from an HMart the other day. I'm excited to use it.

I might try and make some matcha ice cream or maybe like a matcha cake. Any other ideas?

Also, for matcha, do you really need the special whisk and ribbed cup to make it right? I usually make mine by putting it through a strainer and then whisking vigorously untill it's all mixed up.

I have been trying different brands and seeing how they taste. At my local big lots they have a nice selection of teas. Just cause it's cheap, doesn't mean it's terrible. So my mom got different version. White tea is literally just normal tea lol. Then again, I'm in the south (GA) so our primary drinks is tea and coke. Forget Chinese tea. The air is polluted, which enters the soil, and then the plants. Heavy metal and toxins in Chinese (and Indian) tea are higher than Japanese.
So even if a Chinese plantation is doing everything right, they're still fucked by the country they produce the tea in, and as the consumer, so are you.

(1) You don't even get insult jokes correct. Nebraskans don't sister-fuck -- that's Alabama and West Virginia.
(2) A Nebraskan couldn't identify tea if a bathtub labeled "tea" were in front of him.
(3) The decades-long use of materials for tea ceremony doesn't do anything to the flavor of the tea. It doesn't take that long to season a chawan.
(4) The decades-long use of materials for tea ceremony is a billion percent about the purpose of tea ceremony; the methodical, social, and meditative aspect of the ceremony is linked to the history of the materials, the tea room, the tea school, and the people involved in the ceremony, especially when those people have a connection to those things listed earlier.

age affects pu-erh very much
raw pu-erh at least
the taste, aftertaste, texture and all change with age but it doesn't become "better" with age, and there's a number of other factors that matter, so try both, see what you like and dislike about them, then order another pu-erh similar to the one you liked and see how different it is, then keep it up

..jasmine tea is actual tea you tard

>Tea leaves are harvested in the early spring and stored until the late summer when fresh jasmine flowers are in bloom. Jasmine flowers are picked early in the day when the small petals are tightly closed. The flowers are kept cool until nightfall. During the night, jasmine flowers open, releasing their fragrance. This is when the tea scenting takes place. There are two main methods used to scent the tea with the jasmine. In one method the tea and flowers are placed in alternating layers; in the other, the tea is blended with jasmine flowers and stored overnight. It takes over four hours for the tea to absorb the fragrance and flavour of the jasmine blossoms. The scenting process may be repeated as many as six or seven times for top grades such as Yin Hao. The tea absorbs moisture from the fresh Jasmine flowers so it must be dried again to prevent spoilage.
