Fully loaded minestrone. Just put everything in there. Carrots, potatoes, beans, green beans, peas, lot's of bacon, pasta, etc.

Tom Yum thai soups are my favorite when I've got a cold or flu made with either chicken, shrimp or both like pic. The combination of citrus snd hot pepper really helps knock out congestion and they're simple to make.

yes lentils, my mom has an old recipe that uses a ham bone with meat on it, some bacon to saute the veggies and then at the end some grated potato to thicken it.

it is so hearty in the winter and makes you feel really wonderful when you eat it. made about 16 quarts last time and froze blocks of it in my chest freezer

Yes, though I think it's a lot thicker and has a lot more stuff thrown in than in most pease soup throughout the world. It's often almost porridge-like in consistency. If it's remotely watery you're doing something wrong.
