What do you prefer to get: branded milk or store brand? If you buy branded milk, which brand and how are the brands? If you've had milk outside your area, how did it compare?
Also cow milk general.

Looks like it slipped and fell and did the splits and now its back legs don't work. Sometimes if cows fall awkwardly they'll damage the nerves in their hips and they'll never walk again. You can even pick em up with a tractor and put hobbles around their ankles for support but they'll still fall back down. Their muscles in their back legs quiver and shake even though you have put them upright in all fours in a stable position. They'll hold it for maybe 45 seconds then just fall on their ass again. Its sad when that happens.

I think the only store brand milk I've seen in my area is from Wal-Mart or Aldi's or something. That being said, I live in Wisconsin. Is this how it comes to the rest of the country?

Maybe its because your state is so invested in dairy that store brands don't even have room for their own dairy milk?
Here in Oregon we have Alpenrose, Darigold and either Albertson's or Kroger store brand milk depending on whether you got your milk at Albertson's/Safeway or Fred Meyer.

Its all processed at the same plant. Its called co-packing in the industry. The store commits to buy a fuck ton of milk and handle all of the labelling and marketing responsibilities and they get it at a discounted rate.

So, you mean all milk I buy here in Oregon is probably all, or mostly all, either Alpenrose or Darigold?

>> No.11429181

>>11428228
Yes. Check the plant number. Every dairy product MUST have a plant number printed on the label and EVERY manufacturing facility in the United States has a unique plant number. It has a two digit prefix unique to each state followed by a dash and a number for the plant so in California is 09-*****. Google it you might be surprised to find out how many different brands come with the same plant number.

I used to be a dairy farmer with a small herd (10 to 15 milkers, 10 to 15 off rotation, two or three calves and 10 ish steer at any point in time) so I had infinite access to fresh milk. Didn't bother with pasteurization and never had any issues with getting sick.

Now I live in the city and just buy store brand.

nani the fuck?
there's only "name brand" here and they're all 100+ year old marques that are either local or from the next state over, albeit they're now owned and operated by large national co-ops and corporations

I get mine from a local farm and both the taste and mouthfeel is better...hard to explain but it seems creamier.

>> No.11431682

>>11431418
Probably because its not homogenized, is there a visible layer of cream on top? That means its non homogenized, a process that separates the cream from milk by forcing it through a micro screen to break the fat globules.
