Any thoughts on this movie? Is the cooking good/accurate?

Meh. I don't really remember much actual cooking except for the end when he cooks a few eggs in like half a gallon of oil. Tampopo is the true /ck/ kino.

Thanks, it was on a podcast and they we're praising the cooking scenes, but one of them was David Harbour and that fucker can't cook for shit.

>David Harbour

Isn't that the guy from Stranger Things? What does he have to do with cooking?

Yes, and he was discussing a cooking centric movie, and waxing poetic about how food is discussed and shown. They went on and on about the egg scene, but apparently that's the only real cooking they show. I've eaten Harbour's food, and didn't trust his assessment.

Are you talking about Big Night or Tampopo? There's an egg scene in both (well, Tampopo has two egg scenes).

Big Night.

Just rewatched that scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7kOyt9dPB4 and now it's obvious why it's the one thing I remember from BN. It's a really well done single shot, and the way he moves around in the kitchen is very realistic for someone who's been cooking for years. I also like how it's the FoH brother who they actually show doing the cooking.

You should really check out Tampopo if you haven't seen it. There isn't much actual cooking either, but the entire movie is about food and eating, and not just a backdrop for some family drama.
