bread is baked, pasta isn't
bread is made from flour and is leavened
pasta is made from wheat flour with optional use of eggs and is unleavened.

that's it

Is a steamed bun not made from bread dough?

Flatbreads aren't.
Pasta / noodles are boiled bread.

>> No.11307176

>>11307155

No, steamed buns are steamed, not baked, hence not bread.

Flatbreads are breads, unleavened ones, still baked.

pasta making does not require baking, unlike bread making.

spaghetti and meatball is not a sandwich because pasta is not a class of bread.

If a steamed bun isn't bread, then what is it? It's literally the same exact dough. You fry frybread. Are you saying frybread isn't a type of bread?
You said breads are leavened, but now you're saying they don't have to be. Which is it?

just because they are made from similar ingredients does not mean they are the same food. they are created through different processes, through which you end up with different products

the fried bread is still bread which has been fried.
the start is still a piece of bread which has been previously fried, or it would have been called fried dough.

well, a steamed bun is a steamed bun, it is a bun which acquires the name steamed bun due to the cooking process.

I said breads have to be leavened because I considered standard breads, not flat breads, azim bread, pita breads etc.

I feel kinda autistic for reasoning about these things, dunno.

Steamed bread is a thing. It's about the dough, not the cooking process. Pasta is basically a type of dumpling, which are boiled bread.

Yeah I've seen the steamed bread, didn't want to answer too quickly for not flooding.

I've looked into steamed buns, they are made using yeast, which still fit the bread description, as steamed bred does.

pasta is never leavened and the preparation is different.

I guess a venn diagram could be useful for marking the separation of breads and pastas

There are whole wheat pastas made from bread flour. None of these criteria you've laid out are true all of the time. You boil a dumpling, and that's a type of bread.
