pro tip: If you go with the full-size candy option, you might want to avoid the flat bars (e.g. Hershey's, Crunch, etc) because if you get a smaller child with one of those hard plastic pumpkins as a candy holder, the holes are sometimes too small to easily fit the candy through. The large sizes would be "coolest" since it shows a level of non-cheapness, but it's all about the chocolate and themed stuff.

Gonna say it's going to be #1 Reeses anything, seconded by Snickers. Kids (not me) probably like sour crap. I'd give a shout out to one of the best gummi + sour kinds of combinations and say Nerds Ropes are best of all.

My favorites are foreign bars, like Crunchie. I really like fruity gummis like Life Savers, any kind of black licorice, and stuff that hits all notes of sweet, salty, caramelly, chocolatey, nutty, and say Take 5 would be reached for first in any candy bowl. Truffles like Lindt that melt on the tongue, or any kind of boozy liquor liquid chocolate covered, such as a cherry. German ones are exceptional. I love really good candy corn with true honey, but they're nearly a thing of the past. Stale ol' peeps are good however.

I always liked when I got strange candy, or stuff I never really had before. Hey I just wanted to make a thread like this.
Where I live halloween isn't celebrated as much (even though it's my favorite holiday) and we don't get as much variety in candy as americans do (at least for big chocolate bars).
I was thinking of giving fullsized bars of Lions and Snickers and such and maybe a Toblerone/cote d'or bar as well for the few kids that visit.

I remember when we were in first grade my family moved to a nicer neighborhood out on a lake. That first year was the greatest halloween of my life, it was a quaint place filled with little white kids and some elderly retired whites and they would give out the best fucking candy: full size candy bars, little handmaid packages filled with all sorts of bite sized candies, cookies etc.

Year after year out small town began filling up with more beaners, and the beaners (who lived in a completely different area of the town) would fucking drive their kids over to our neighborhood before the sun even went down and would fucking RUN from door to door with their parents trying to get as much candy as possible during the night, as soon as they finished our neighborhood their parents would drive them to another one.

My mother figured out what they were doing and starting giving out stale starbursts and those disgusting dum dum suckers that nobody likes to the beaner kids. When the cute little white kids came up to the door she'd pull out a separate candy bowl filled with all the good chocolatey candy and would let them take as much as they like. One time she even switched bowls right in front of the little beaner's faces.

Don't worry about getting American chocolate, it's not very good compared to European chocolate. Though maybe the novelty would be interesting to some, but likely lost on little ones. American brands only really have the benefit of selling "fun sized" portions of candy, so you can either give a couple of different types of candy or cheap out so you can make a whole bag of them last an entire night.

Outside shitskins basically ruined Halloween in our neighborhood. One of our Asian neighbors ran the neighborhood grocery store and without fail gave out full sized candy bars every year. It came to a point where they more or less knew which candy the kids liked and give them out based on our preferences. Then one year it hit like a hurricane.

There were tons of extra kids showing up to our neighborhood panhandling for candy coming from outside. It wasn't so bad in the beginning just extra busy and chaotic.

Later on it got worse. Most of the time by the time we got to our neighbors most of the candy was gone. He even shrugged in surprise "Wow so many kid this year!". Eventually they started giving out mini candies to cope with the demand. Eventually there was wide scale vandalism during Halloween and our township started placing restrictions on how long we could all be out on that night to keep the damage down. And our kindly asian neighbors just stopped giving out candy on halloween, we were told to come to their store the day before and they gave us all little gift bags of candy with a nod and wink but it just wasn't the same.

Then, I would draw up a map with riddles written in Latin or ancient Anglo Saxon, and leave it at my local elementary school. Soon people stopped giving out candy all together and only a few houses or people are ever seen in the streets making the holiday a complete bust. I fucking hate city kids and the demons that spawn them into this world for this very reason.

3 years ago I made candy myself, I usually kept an atropa belladonna since I used to make ointments from its fruits, anyways I mixed honey, sugar, cocoa, oats, coconut and coffee with a small amount of the fruit since its dangerous to consume, put them in freezer to get them solid, made small balls of them.
I made them for myself but when a really loud kid who banged on my door for 2 minutes straight came, I gave him one of those mixed in with more normal stuff, needless to say, if he or anyone else ate it they'd get a nice surprise better than any candy could give them lmao.
