I was born in 1990 and while I remember surge, I remember it being kinda gross.

I think shitty pre-made lemonades were my "soda" of choice, if anything. Capri sun was memorable thanks to the various mythologies on how to actually get the straw in without fucking up either the pouch or the straw.

These days I drink mostly water or black coffee, and beer and tequila. Sometimes I drink orange juice to wash down the tequila when I’m not drinking beer. They do, and it's called "Pibb Xtra" now. Still around, but it only depends on which area you live in where Dr. Pepper isn't being produced by local Coke bottlers, or if there are places/restaurants that straight-up don't carry Dr. Pepper. It's pretty rare to find around here, and the only place I've ever seen it here is Chipotle. It's pretty damn good, I have to say.
