It works. I'm still rather thin but I used to be full skelly. When I finally got sick of being skelly, I just ate and ate and ate. I had to force myself to eat way more than I was comfortable with (which is just a normal amount of food for a lot of people, as it turned out). Calorie rich breakfast, sandwich in between, nice lunch from a fast food join like mcdonalds or something, sandwich in between and then dinner. Did this every day for over a month while also working out and I skyrocketed to ~170 lbs for the first time in my life.

The problem was that the weight came on so fast that it was mostly fat. Went back to normal eating habits which was one full meal a day and the weight came off quickly but after all the fat melted off, I was met with the surprise of a bed of muscle that made me bottom out at ~150lbs as opposed to ~130lbs.

First post in this thread for me, but yes, I am saying that.

The reason is that what we define as a "calorie" is how much chemical energy the body can extra from a particular kind of food (protein, carb or fat). The body is very optimized to not waste energy, so once it has extracted this energy, it's not going anywhere. If you extract more energy than you expend, your body will store it as fat.

500 calories of vegetables will make you more full, but that is another matter. If you fix the calories of a person's diet, the wait gain/loss will be fixed.

Here are two tactics to "Eat more, bro."

>Eat more per meal
Look up food eating competition tactics and you'll see those dudes train their stomachs to hold so much food at once. Fatasses do this too each time they feel stuffed... and that's the only stopping point they ever have so their stomachs get fucking huge. Competitors will use Iceberg lettuce to fill their stomach to that point during training. So you need to as well.

Some Fatasses use this technique. They are constantly finding snacks to munch on, often while they are busy with some other activity like watching tv or reading or gaming. The spread in metablism isn't that large. Maybe +/- 200 calories from the mean. Less if you account for height, lean mass, and level of activity. You can let someone ride a stationary bike and calculate the the amount of work they do while measuring the amount of CO2 they exhale. Then you measure the amount of CO2 they exhale at rest. From there you can calculate their base metabolic rate and calories burned per joule of work.

If the calories you burn from exercise plus your BMR exceed your calories consumed, you lose weight. Just make sure you get enough protein, vitamins, and minerals and you won't get malnourished. Your mind and body might protest, as we're programmed not to lose weight, but that means you'll just have to not be a little bitch.
