>I think my whole family (me gf and 2 year old) could stretch all that for 14+ days.
really? i feel like you'd all go hungry / starve yourself

wouldn't a more realistic stretch be just the 2 of you for a week?

unless you mainly loaded your plate up with rice and subtracted all the junk food alcohol and other miscellaneous costs and reorganized and allocated it for strict survival but that would be cheating because then it wouldn't be my grocery list

what's your grocery list like and how much do you spend?

hmm, have you tried crockpot recipes? you literally just dump in the whole ingredients press the on button and wait

examples:

you can also google easy slow cooker / crockpot recipes and i believe the crockpot comes with its own recipes as well

i mean it's either that or i guess you could survive on frozen burritos for breakfast, frozen pizza for lunch and frozen chicken nuggets with french fries for dinner but that won't make you feel very good...would probably taste really good though

I am not even eating such shit most of the time.
I guess I get a slice of some meat or sausages, fry it up, put a sauce on and top with pickles or a random green to the side for lunch and literally whatever yogurt I have for breakfast and dinner.

Most recipes can't be really sized down so you can feed a single person without leftovers because you just can't buy ingredients for a single person without having to throw the rest out because you're not going to use them before they go bad

but...you could've used all that effort and time waiting and frying up meat and sausage and putting sauce on it and stuff to just dump whole ingredients into a pot and press a button

also do you just eat the meat plain with pickles or do you eat it with some kind of starch / side dish or something?

>Most recipes can't be really sized down so you can feed a single person without leftovers because you just can't buy ingredients for a single person without having to throw the rest out because you're not going to use them before they go bad

I shop on a week to week basis. This was my "list" for this week.

>boneless, skinless, soulless chicken thighs
>honey
>broccoli
>4 limes
>1 lemon
>5 frozen crap dinners for lunch because not gonna spend money on fast food when I only got 30min to eat
>fiber one bars (gotta poop)
>breakfast bars cause gotta go fast to work, no time for real food but they're not cheapo crap

I've still got some stuff left over from previous weeks and the meal I'm making (chicken thighs w/ a honey mustard pan sauce) for majority of dinner this week I already had the majority of the ingredients (only really needed the chicken but I wasn't pleased with the state of my honey so decided to buy more).

I have some andouille sausage in the fridge that's still good, some rice in the pantry, some flour, oil, seasoning, beans, etc so might toss some stuff together later in the week.

Other than that I grabbed some shit at random mainly some expensive as fuck pork rinds ($4.99) so I can feel like a hipster while I sip an Old Fashioned alone when I watch Summerslam tonight.

if you make dishes like taco chicken with rice then you could eat it on its own, add it to a soft tortilla one time then a hard tortilla the next, change up the toppings, maybe put some avocado cilantro and tabasco on one, spicy bbq sauce and sour cream on the other, add it to a salad, add a salad to the dish on its own and or with soft / hard tacos to create a 2 course dish and again change the toppings on the tacos, make a burrito etc

tons of stuff you can do to take 1 dish and turn it into others

like you could add the stew on rice, make czech dumplings with the stew eat it goulash style, put the stew in dumplings, put the stew in samosas, stir fry the stew with noodles etc
>>11086719
wew, now *you* sound super stressy rush and panicky not that other anon haha, it's not that you don't have the time, it's that you don't want to use it

Eh this week is just sort of an off week. The last two weeks I had strong craving for jerk chicken. I made that twice along with a pineapple black bean salsa with jasmine rice. I made bowls for DAYS out of those three was fantastic. I -almost- went with some thai curry this week but than I found the honey mustard pan sauce recipe for the chicken and I just happened to have all the ingredients for it except the chicken so I went with that for cost saving as I didn't want to buy a bunch of ingredients if I had a good recipe to run me a few days of leftovers with and for $6 for 2lb of chicken thighs it was worth it. The lemon is for my old fashioned which I had one earlier and will be having again shortly.

I wouldn't say I'm "super stressy" I just value my time. I get up at 6:50am every morning, shower, etc, and leave by about 7:25am to start work at 8:15am. I get some coffee along the way and then have my light lunch till dinner. My commute isn't stressful and the routine works for me. I can at least say that I rarely have fast food and if I do it's at most once a week only on the weekend.

I have considered trying to maybe get up just a touch earlier maybe 6:30am at the most so I could scramble an egg or something just on a trial basis to see if I like doing that. I used to do that to make french press coffee which would be kind of nice to do again.

>I just value my time. I get up at 6:50am every morning, shower, etc, and leave by about 7:25am to start work at 8:15am. I get some coffee along the way and then have my light lunch till dinner
i see, i usually take showers before i go to bed so i don't have to when i'm groggy in the morning, you should try that instead so when you wake up you can use that 35 minutes to cook yourself a nice quality breakfast and browse through media or just chill or something

did you know that small low calorie breakfasts low in fat and protein cause uneven glycemic spikes and mess with your blood sugar and metabolism which in turn affects your neurochemistry which in turn affects your mood all throughout the day?

breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and should be the heaviest because you've been fasting for (presumably and hopefully) 8+ hours. Your breakfast should be heavy, your lunch mild and your dinner light, i don't know if you've heard the saying "breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a beggar"

It was about 2.5lb of chicken breast each time. It was a really good meal cost wise too. The chicken wasn't more than $6-7 each time. The salsa is just pineapple tidbits (20oz can for .50c to $1.50 depending on big brand or store), black beans (15oz can, $1-$1.50), cilantro ($.70-$1 a bunch), juice of one lime, used zest as well on the second run ($.50) and a 2lb bag of jasmine rice for probably $2.99 got store brand.

Old Fashioned cocktail. Used some Whistlepig Rye Whiskey, and it was pretty good.

As for showers I prefer morning showers. I sweat sometimes while I sleep even in the winter (this is w/o a sheet/blanket/comforter/etc) so it's just how I roll. I've been doing it my entire life and I guess I could say it's a trait I got from my parents since they also are morning shower people.

I'm aware that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and like I said I've thought about at least having an egg or something in the morning. I could probably have some sausage/bacon/etc pre-cooked earlier in the week too won't be the best that way but hey it'll save me a little time I guess. Maybe I'll even get some good fresh ground grits the next time I visit my parents in Georgia.
