I fucking love pasta. Whenever I'm cooking and need something filling for lunch, I dump 200g of dry pasta in the pot.
I prefer using broth to cook the pasta, or adding spice later, rather than tomato sauce, though

And I wouldn't say it's strictly an italian dish, the techniques and ingredients required are ubiquitous in europe
In greece for example expect to see more fresh herbs like parsley and dill in the meat sauce/ragu
