Yes but almost exclusively when that's the purpose of the food, as in food photography.
I find that photographing food when eating out is annoying/rude to those around you. Just enjoy the food and the company.

Smartphone food photos from dimly lit restaurants almost always look like shit anyway.

Almost everytime, i rarely upload them anywhere but it's a nice when the pic reminds me where i ate it and if it was any good.
