Shit opinion, OP.

At least if you're American, with bourbon you can get a great whiskey at a good price. I personally prefer Scotch and a few Irish, not too hot on most Canadian, and Japanese is more expensive as an import than it's worth, but I'll take a good bourbon or American rye when I'm not looking to break the bank. And a good bourbon holds up.

How many of you like everything?
Within reason, I'm not talking about bottom-shelf plastic jug handles. I love me some scotch, bourbon, rum, brandy, and tequila. Single malts, single barrels, blends, I don't care I'll drink it all. I just finished the last drop of Lagavulin distiller's edition that was gifted to me and now I'm drinking some Old Forester bourbon.

Problem with Scotch is that the affordable stuff tastes like engine oil. At least when you buy cheap Irish or bourbon, it might not be great, but at least it's still drinkable. I don't want to have to empty my savings just to buy a potable whiskey. Scotch doesn't become acceptable until you reach JW Black, and that's nearly as expensive as entry-level single malts.

When I feel like it's scotch's turn in my liquor cabinet it's no less than 60$ to get a good product.
