I always wore a jacket to hide my fat, even during gym class. Clueless teachers often sent me to the detention room because I wouldn't take it off. But then grade 10 happened and I had a massive growth spurt that slimmed me right out. Stopped wearing a jacket all the time and started loving to play sports. So yeah, just get taller.

That kid sounds comfy as fuck, tbpqh. Meals are a sacred time for loners. I didn't get a lot of privacy in the high school lunch room because of assigned seating. Shit was terrible. But once college rolled around, things got a lot better for me. I bought a Stanley thermos, a food thermos, and a lunch box. I'd find an empty spot at the back of the lunchroom, and set the table by laying down a handkerchief as a table cloth. I'd get out all my food and utensils, put my headphones in, and begin my daily ritual. I even had tiny salt and pepper shakers (still do). When I graduated, I specifically looked for jobs that had campuses so that I could continue it. I don't want to eat at a desk. I enjoy the walk down to the cafeteria and getting to disappear from my job for an hour. My entire life has been a pursuit of interacting with people as little as possible.

I used to think breaking people up so they can't interact with their friends, and suppressing their individuality was 100% a bad thing, but it produced one of the cleanest, quietest schools I've ever been in. As an American, it was eye-opening. It sucks not to have some privacy while eating, but otherwise it was more than OK with me. That principal was no joke. He'd rip you out of there without warning if you misbehaved.

Whoever wrote this doesn't have much experience hanging around the disabled. They are always the most positive, happiest people and everyone goes out of their way to be extra nice to them and pat them on the back for the slightest accomplishment and make sure their life is as comfortable as possible.
