You do realize that if you eat less cals than you need, your body will cannibalize itself to get what it needs, right? At first, that's fat. A good thing. Then, it's other things you need. Eating below your requirement is a good thing when you need to lose weight, but after that going too low is detrimental. But I wouldn't expect some faglord who grossly assumes a lot of things and acts like a troll to actually be invested in logic. Or science. Or anything beside trolling really.

Huh. Never heard of that. Mango is one of those fruits and it was the worst for me. I was okay with lower sugar fruits in smaller amounts like some berries though. I'll look into the latex thing more, but even basic desserts with refined sugar cause me to break out. Apparently it's not too uncommon for sugar to cause these problems in other people too. yes if those carbs are available in essentially unlimited quantities. Type 2 diabetes was first documented in India among the wealthy; they did not eat large amounts of refined carbs, but due to their wealth they ate a high carb diet without any real calorie restrictions. A high carb diet works only if it is accompanied by calorie restriction - the chinese and japanese did quite well on a diet of nearly all simple carbs for a long time; they're now on the same path as the US due to increased calorie intake. As long as you keep a tight rein on calories your endocrine system gets a chance to rest between meals, but when you start getting multiple large intakes of carbs each day - no matter which type - the insulin levels are just too high too long, and your liver starts acting as though high blood sugar levels are normal, and then your doctor tells you you have metabolic disorder and to look forward to a lifetime of insulin shots.

That's interesting. I always find unrefined carbs to be really filling though and figured it would be almost impossible to overeat on them. I guess if you really were wealthy and did nothing but sit around and eat all day it would be possible.

Being sedentary is the biggest factor next to genetics that affects health. Diet is actually quite a bit down the line, much as that chaps ketofags and other dietfags to hear. It's not what they were eating; it's what they weren't doing. The only reason nobles tended to live longer was they had lower physical risk than peasants did. Infection was murder then. carbs are cheap to produce, so they're great when your poor they are the only affordable thing that provides enough energy to survive. unfortunately they're a killer once you're wealthy and can afford to eat your fill. the upper class indians found this out, the americans found this out, and europeans and east asians are now finding this out.
