Why does food and nutrition inspire such rabid, seething tribalism? The most basic questions like "Is the cholesterol in eggs bad for you?" get people frothing like hyenas at each other.

That's because there are idiots who believe that the cholesterol in eggs is bad for you and will obstinately defend their retarded bro science.

That's because the science in the past has been contradictory so people are skeptical of trusting it (even though you and I both know that's the nature of science: to keep testing and trying to disprove what we think we know) but people are too stupid to understand a nuanced answer that hasn't been hyped up beyond belief.

I like to think it's because most people even here are good humans. because of this it's easy for people to be upset with each other if they find the other to be spreading false information that could potentially endanger others, especially the less informed or naive

until nutritional science gets to a point at which it is at least somewhat certain about a certain fooditem, like with sugar being bad in high doses, it is vastly inferior to the knowledge passed down through generations about what you can and should eat. also i highly believe things that are not industrially processed and considered safe/healthy to eat through generations, or in the case of eggs, for millenia, can not be unhealthy in moderation. basically nothing that fills this criteria can be bad in moderation

Because this is 4chan and overreactive vitriolic self-important outbursts are the only language most of us understand
