Here is the trick as I've learned it:

Shitty hotsauces are for shitty food. Use them to mask the flavor of crap. But if you want to add some kick to a dish that isn't garbage, get some really good, really REALLY hot hotsauce. Like ghost pepper hot. Then add only a tiny bit of it to your dish, like a few drops max, and spread it very thin. You get that nice spicy tingling that spreads through your mouth without covering up the taste of the actual food.

It's good on shitty fast food or comfort foods, thats it, and shitty foods are pretty common nowadays.

If I ever see faggots sprinkle that shit on a properly made steak I will kick their teeth in, but on eggs? Or mac 'n cheese? It's great.

I don't even like hot sauce, purposely putting capsaicin into your body is fucking retarded. I just like vinegar and garlic so I drown everything in Frank's. I think only niggers can't handle vinegar. Fat, stinky niggers to be more specific, since vinegar stops you from being fat.

>> No.10675718

Here's a protip, if it's mild or "hot" then it's usually to add flavor to the dish see Cholula, El Yucateco, etc. If it's stupidly hot as in shit like DEVIL/GHOST/REAPER named sauces it's just to inflate fragile egos. But if you use Tabasco at all you are just a subhuman.

Hot spice can really bring the flavors out. Grab a general food which tastes *bland*. Add extra-hot sauce. It's now okay.

Some idiots go about this as some sort of dick-measuring competition. That's stupid.

You need just the right amount of hotness, somewhere close to the border of comfort zone. Not too much, not too little, and the amount is very individual. Moreover, you build immunity over time and need hotter spices/sauces. You start off with a pinch of chilli powder, or a squirt of sriracha. Then you move to tabasco, sambal oelek, and eventually into specialty sauces. There's no fear you'll run off, because the hottest sauces are really ludicrously hot. Still, normal stuff no longer suffices really.

And the effect? A common bowl of generic, off-the-shelf shit tier instant ramen becomes a very nice meal for me with 2-3 drops of hot sauce and it's becoming very tasty. Currently using
"CaJohns Z Nothing Beyond Hot Sauce" - you need to get used to bullshit names like this; it's actually somewhere in the lower echelons of hot sauces, although obviously leaves mainstream stuff like tabasco in the dirt. And the price is reasonable, plus it lasts a long time, as you use very little.

My dad is this way. I like a bit of a kick to my food sometimes, but my dad will go out and buy NUCLEAR DEATH SAUCE XXX 3000 and shit. >"Hey anon, I'm making some wings and wanted to try Scorching Hellfire! It's made from some of the hottest peppers found deep within the jungles of South America used by uncontacted tribes to kill large game and then Nazi scientists genetically engineered them to cause maximum pain and suffering. *groan* Some people are too blinded by "I can" to think whether "I should."
If your dad likes stuff like that, yeah, sure let him enjoy. But different people have different tolerance thresholds and there's no point forcing something that makes you feel sick. Getting the right amount of spice is important.

I got a that curry made once; asked the cook specifically to make it "4" on a 1-5 scale __not adjusted for whites__. It was awesome. It burned. It hurt a bit. But it was delicious and when I stood up I was actually on an euphoric endorphin high. It was awesome.

On another occasion I fucked up a Chili Con Carne. I added far too much dried peppers, and underestimated how hot breed I got; I gave up halfway through my first bowl, and was just in pain with no positive effects.

it's dick measuring because it is. pussies can't handle heat, whine about how much it hurts. in literally any other dick measuring contest, it's okay to call a pussy a faggot, but now because it involves hot sauce, it's suddenly faggot to not be a pussy.

Normally I would agree with you. If my dad actually enjoyed super-duper pain sauces then good for him. But to see him over there red in the face, a grimace of pain, sweating and saying "oooh boy" after every bite tells me that he isn't. Why would you do that?

>> No.10676067

>>10675979
I'm on the fence. It's possible he's just trying to show off. But that curry I talked about... I was pretty much like that while I ate it. And still I enjoyed it. Endorphins are a weird thing like that, it's actually what masochism is based upon; the border between eating extra-spicy and having your ass spanked by your mistress are surprisingly closely related.

But yeah, you're past your tolerance threshold and you're just in pain and it's shit. And a lot of people don't realize it and trudge on "because it's manly" or such.

Extremely hot sauces, typically easy to distinguish from just very hot sauces by whether or not they use pepper extract, are definitely worth having in your kitchen but shouldn't be the focus of your collection since putting the sauce directly on something or using it in a recipe where it won't be cooked a lot or diluted mostly amounts to an "I dare you". I'll still eat a half tablespoon of extract sauce on a cracker or part of a sandwich once in a while cause I make bad decisions but for actual good results with extract sauces you can mix a drop or two in eggs or batter for fried shit or similar. Cooking smooths or at least just weakens the heat a bit and you can get some interesting results, you have to like the burn at this level though I guess.

Vinegar is the last actual ingredient to Tapatio before you hit the stabilizers and preservatives. There is more garlic in Tapatio than vinegar.

Yes. Adding 3-4 drops of the extremely hot sauce per large pot of a stew makes it nicely spicy practically without affecting other aspects of flavor. I mean, even if the sauce uses vinegar, how much are 4 drops of vinegar change it? But with so high SHU it definitelly does affect spiciness quite a bit.
