I agree that they were off-topic, but the result of banning them is that we now have a million threads about a million kinds of booze. They still tend to have a lot of off-topic content but there's no real reason to delete them. Unless the mods make a new rule to stop them, but it would have to basically ban all discussion of alcoholic beverages which I don't think is reasonable because really /ck/ is the place for honest discussions about them.
