Worked at Publix deli for 3 years in Orlando near UCF from 2012-2015. Most of that time was at the Deli on East Coloniel and Alafaya. It's not there anymore got replaced by an Academy Outdoor when the new store opened by the 408.

For a co-workers last day we got a Cuban LOAF (not bread but a giant loaf) and canoed it. Diced 20 chicken tenders and shook them in a bag with buffalo sauce and ranch. Grilled 4 pounds of london broil on the grill with 6 different cheeses, every closer chose a cheese. also grilled with onions, mushrooms and green peppers. put all of this on the canoed loaf. I think we added mac and cheese, can't remember. Then we tightly compacted and sealed the sandwich around the edge with xanthum gum. dipped in tampora batter and deep fried it. took it out, diced it like a sushi roll, and drizzled with blue cheese dressing and buffalo sauce. My old flip phone has a picture, just can't find the phone. But it was the craziest thing we ever made in the deli.

Those were good times. Amazing crew. All college kids worked the closing shift and we had a blast. Really good memories there and I look back on that time fondly.

Its a place where turn signals don't exist, lane lines are a mere suggestion, and chicanos and old people inadvertently fight over how to be the most irritating group of people in the state. Everyone there moves at a Kentucky pace but completely without manners. Nearly everything is cheaply built, like it's practically meant to be destroyed in a hurricane. It's all connected by one desolate concrete highway, that sometimes elevates to give you a "view" of the scrub terrain that's inevitably going to be turned into a strip mall.

Please come to Florida! Where you'll nearly rear ended by an elderly person or somebody will try and fight you because you "took their spot" in a parking lot, while leaving their kid in the car with the windows up.

because they're that fucking good, and everyone has been to Florida on vacation. The company is employee owned so there's no fuckery, just quality. The only stores that come close are much smaller, like harris teeter and heinen's.

There are publixes as far north as Middle Tennessee and I think they are spreading into the DC area now.

You're right somewhat. But the reason why things are cheaply made is so the beach is preserved. Hurricanes cleanse the beach periodically then all the debris is cleaned up, we dredge the beach, rebuild the dunes, plant fresh new plantlife then start over. Otherwise we'd look like a shitty Yankee or west coast beach.

I moved back to an area with a Publix I frequented for years. It's now a shit hole full of rude rowdy blacks and when the sun goes down all the arabs come out to shop and are even ruder.
I walked in for the first time in a year and it smelled like a sour piss soaked rag. All of the employees had scowls on their faces and one black dude giving a death stare to a lady who was picking yogurt and I guess he stopped to fuck around then came back and was pissed.
It's embarrassing when Publix was considered one of the best grocery shopping experiences you can have in Florida. Now I see reports about fist fights and shit in the aisles.
Best damn chicken and subs when no better alternative is around.
