I go to a marijuana party/kick back every now and then, and if I’m driving I politely decline when they ask me if I want a free dab. Then I just buy what I came for and leave, lately I’ve just been using cbd. So no getting high, if they ask me and they have cbd I’ll take a hit there. But other than that it’s usually a no go.

Mead was a spiritual beverage, brewed for oath taking rituals and other transcendent soothsaying activity. It wouldn't have been so much for recreation as it had great cultural significance in Germanic belief.

That being said it's like ale and other such grain based beverages would have been produced and drunk often with much weaker alcohol percentage so it could make a good substitute for water. With water being often contaminated and unsafe.

Varg argues that Pagans universally used copper and silver vessels to sterilise water and drink from. I'm no biologist so I don't know the validity of this. But I'm sure the majority of common peasants wouldn't have had universal access to these materials for making drinking vessels.
