>> No.10440170

Medium is literally the only way to have your steak and I'm not memeing.

This whole "rare" shit was started by Japanese because we all know how autistic and pointless Japanese cuisine is so they thought they'd start undercooking steak so that it would give them culture. (Note how this "rare" trend only came into fashion when Wagyu and Kobe beef was becoming known)

Beef is meant to be eaten warm hence why French restaurants for years served beef as medium (Gordon Ramsey and Marco Pierre all order their steaks medium).

Medium is the legitimate best way to eat the steak. The juices and flavour is locked in with a warm meal. Nobody wants to eat cold fucking steak and that's why it's always pissed me off to see this faggot hipsters fall for it and pretend it tastes nicer.

>> No.10440183

>>10440170
This.

Always medium is how restaurants served beef for centuries. There was no well done or rare. Medium was already proved to be objectively the best way to eat steak hence why it was the norm for centuries. Rare steak was only made popular due to desperate attempts at culture revisionism in the late 20th century.

Get used to your equipment and listen to the sounds the steak make and the way it feels and looks when it gets close to your preferred doneness. Timing is also very important to note, which be slightly different from the averages depending on your stove-top or oven, whatever you're using to cook with. Essentially it's all experience.

It depends on the cut of steak. If it's a really tender steak like a filet mignon, I'll get it rare, because there's so little fat that it dries out quickly. But with a steak with a higher fat content, I'd go medium. Either way, I cook them sous vide, so there is no chance of any food poisoning, and I get the best tasting steak.

Anyone who eats their steak well done should just go to McDonalds instead, because it's a waste of money.
