Fun fact: Soviet bread was so popular that people would literally stand for hours just to get some.

A fart in the wind compared to Chernobyl. They were both bad, but the release of radioactive material was much lower, and the site was successfully cleaned up to almost normal conditions. Chernobyl literally had radioactive sludge flowing out of the site, Three Mile Island was steam which mostly dissipated.

For the record I am pretty anti-nuclear, but "bad" and "catastrophic" are still distinct concepts.

Racial poverty. They are largely Mongolian rape babies, as much Asian as white. What remained of pure whites were almost all killed in the jewish-led purge of the "bourgeois" and the christians (it was just Jews getting the mongoloid lower classes who were called "Slavs" or "serfs" to help them kill off whites).

Same thing happened in France with the Protestants getting kicked out. Turns out that was the last bastion of Aryan blood. Now french often look like Turks even if they are 200+ years in that country. Sad.

As I understand Chernobyl, the Russian federation was on the verge of economic collapse and needed to evaluate the outcome of use of the absurdly large nuclear arsenal. By deliberately loading fuel into the reactor for more than ten days a situation was created that would force the free world to offer the prized medical knowledge that Russia had failed to gather on their own.
The resulting evaluation brought about the "apparent" collapse of the former Union of Soviet socialist republics. A defecting Russian general described the plan as "playing possum".

The Soviet Union had food shortages, including severe grain shortages, in the 1980's. This was due to the fact that the USSR had come to rely heavily on grain exports to generate hard currency, coupled with a series of poor harvests. The poor harvest left them with less grain, but the leadership choose to continue to export as much of it as possible as they were so dependent on the money produced by the export. The result was far too little grain left internally to produce enough bread to keep the population fed.

Rampant corruption didn't help either.

Always look for different candies and chocolate first.
Very good bread, sour cherry or apricot jams, foreign honey. Look for sourdough darkbread, or stuffed breads with herbed chicken for a picnic. Bakery should yield some unusual things from honeycake to good use of berries and fruit.
In the freezer section you might some delicious stuffed peirogi or other dumplings, including some sweeter ones stuffed with plums or some spice profiles you haven't had before..
The deli might have some good imported finds in salami, fresh or cured sausages, esp smoked sausages where there will be different woods used, or cheese and some homemade pickles.
Look for some paprika rich hungarian salami. If you're into smoked fish (I'm not), you might strike gold.

It sounds terrible like something would be missing. Tarragon is a bit licorice or fennel flavor and scented, maybe this is meant as a savory cocktail mixer? Think gin, cucumber, mint as refreshing and realize some savory herbs are good with vodka too and on a side benefit probably help the breath. This probably also goes into the category of "health" benefits kind of like all the old liqueurs were mysteriously botanical goodness in a homeopathic sense (total bunk usually).

Bagger: Oh, have you been to Japan?
Cashier: No, but I read "Hiroshima".
Bagger: What is Hiroshima?
...
Me: The first city we nuked to end World War 2?

The only thing I am embellishing at all is the assumption it was a woman, since she could have just been a tallish, sturdily-built teenager, likely fresh out of high school. Younger than 25 for sure though. For perspective on the local IQ demographic, this was my graduating class (2009) anthem during assemblies:

Oh, and I've never been to Ifunny, but Ctrl+Shift+Click saves links for me and I collect memes by the thousands. Watermarks are like herpies, and unless you are willing to examine every thumbnail like a jeweler and turn down prime memes because of a little mark, you are probably going to pick up a few dirty ones. Sue me.

It's the same thing with green monkeys and HIV. They simply don't live long enough for the serious damage to start manifesting.

I posted the home school post and the original "why does Russia fuck everything up post".

You were home schooled by evangelicals.

This post brought to you by Betsy DeVos.

>I "learned" something but completely misunderstood what happened
better off not learning it at all. you guys run an education system from top to bottom that has the highest spending per student in the world and has trouble keeping up with dumpster fires like Slovakia, Hungary, and Portugal in certain areas and your first reaction when your shitty performance is called out is "b-b-but not enough money!"

I went to a fancy private prep school with a 15% admission rate though.

What's wrong with Portugal?
