Some states have backwards laws that require them to sell their beer to a distributor and buy it back before selling it on site. There was just a big fight about this in Maryland where the politicians decided to double down on the outdated laws and fuck over the push to modernize them. This is because bar/restaurant owner association and alcohol distributors have a lot of lobbying power in local government with both parties

Also, breweries generally do not want to undercut their retail partners

I know you're joking lol. I'm drinking the Milwaukee's Best Ice to save the other beers to bring to a friend's house next weekend. The Genesee Cream was really outstanding though for a cheap beer. Milwaukee's is probably the best beer for getting drunk though. It's very corny, sweet, and sour tasting. I haven't had a good stout or porter in a while so I might try one instead of my usually cheap ice beers. I like really dense, filling brews. IPAs are fine but not my favorite.

>>10338500
I was searching for beer memorabilia and yeah they did have it on tap. I haven't tried the regular Beast. It's probably less harsh than the ice version. I could have got a 12 pack but nah. Same with the light version. Genesee Cream is probably the least bitter beer I've had in a long time. Hardly any hops taste and it's above 5% abv. Good for people that hate beer and only drink at parties.

KBS is overrated. Its a great beer but there are many stouts and barrel aged stouts that surpass it or equal it without the price. Within founders breakfast stout and sumatra mountain are equal in my eyes.

Pliny is a great beer its probably the most balanced ipa ive had. It hits every note an ipa should. It might be too balanced for me because i prefer one slightly dominant note with the rest of the flavors reinforcing or balancing the dominant flavor. Also its very rare in my area and its a hassle to get so i would rather drink some other ipas.

Bells two hearted is my favorite ipa. I really like the strong maltiness/breadiness with the hoppiness playing to balance it.

other than having high alcohol taxes, the selection is extremely varied. helps that the state has over 200 breweries.

Perth Western Australia - surprisingly really good. Lots of places nearby with a great selection of domestic and international beers. The only problem is it's very expensive, especially for imported stuff or strong stuff.

I still like Furious, but it's getting hard to find it fresh. They seem to have filled stores with more beer than people are willing to buy, so it just ends up sitting on shelves for months. I won't drink it if it's more than a month old.

never heard of this, but why the fuck not, especially if the stout hits hard on coffe, you can eat the chocolate after to melt both tastes

drinking this one rn, not bad at all although it's not the most refreshing gose I had

Is there a reason for it being so expensive? I'm not sure how the production differs from their other beers.

>> No.10379106

>>10379018
well being high alcohol and high in hops it does cost more to make. A large portion of the cost to make a beer comes from the grain which is more or less proportional to the alcohol content. Meanwhile, most good modern IPAs use very large hop additions very late in the brewing process, and ample dry hoping (hops thrown in during the fermentation), as opposed to old school west coast IPAs that add the hops early for that bitterness instead of the flavor and aroma but require less hops to get there
Having said that Todd isn't super high in alcohol, so would totally expect a beer like that to cost more than the brewery's base beers, but not that much more
