Define "copy". With a liberal application of that word you can accuse nearly any dish that exists today of being a "copy" of something else. "Coasties" have what are called "regional cuisines". I know, surprising to think that there's more food than just Subway and McDonald's.

New England - lots of seafood as well as Irish influenced cuisines
New York - buffalo wings obviously and then NYC which we won't bother talking about
Mid-Atlantic - Pennsylvania dutch homely foods and zesty Chesapeake Bay styled seafood dishes
South - BBQ everywhere, all different styles
Deep south - Cajun and creole, arguably one of the best things ever
Southwest - Texmex staples such as chili and other Mexican influenced dishes
Socal - Mexicali cuisine and plenty of other dishes scattered throughout the state
Pacific Northwest - Seafoods, wild game and native influence. Kinda a woodsy "live off the land" feel.
Midwest - Burger King

You can find everything in the midwest and more in the Mid-Atlantic states as well as the Pacific Northwest. There is nothing special about midwest flyover cuisine. It has absolutely 0 unique aspects. It's no wonder you pride yourselves in chili spaghetti and hotdog rivalries.

>midwest is only states with german food
This criticism works just as well on pretty much all of the other areas listed. Is New England unique for having seafood and irish food? The south hardly has a monopoly on barbecue. Mexicans cover the entire country, all of the midwest has mexican influenced dishes. Nailing down a food to a specific region has always been arbitrary, and the only reason to single out the midwest the way that you do is because you want to create strife.

The other areas have innovated their styles and the dishes are attributed to them, even when found in other parts of the US. You see crabs with old bay, you automatically associate it with Maryland. There's not association to the midwest because it's not special or interesting and there's no distinct connection to it's origin.

>>10310435
The entire state of Ohio is considered midwest, so Cincinnati is included. And what do you mean about hotdog rivalries not being a midwestern thing? You have an epic hotdog battle permanently going on in Detroit to see who can make the best hotdog with chili and mustard and then you have the Chicagays who have a huge boner for their salad buns

>> No.10310566

>>10310530
It's got nothing to do with marketing. Each region molded the styles based on the resources available in the region, the immigrant population in that area and other factors like the climate there. That is why you attribute the dishes to the area, not because of marketing. German immigrants spread out everywhere in the US, so you can find German influenced dishes everywhere. Once again, there is absolutely nothing unique about midwestern food that separates it from the rest of the states. As I said, it's "generic white people food" that has evolved throughout the country as a whole, rather than just within the midwest.

>> No.10310577

>>10310566
Nah, the only differientator you're talking about is how you personally perceive the food, i.e. how it's been marketed to you. Personally, much of what you see as "generic white people food" I see as being obviously midwestern.

Allow someone who has actually lived in both areas and cultures long enough to actually be objective to lay out some truth for both of you:

The coast is purely synthetic; the only honesty is dishonesty. Nothing that exists in a metropolitan area is worth discussing, and the rural areas of the coast can be summed up as "Midwest/Flyover, but with fish".

The Midwest/Flyovers is/are bland and boring, but it is at least honest. You will never have some yuppie fuckface insist to you that xir's raw, organic quinoa free-trade body wash that saves the hippos makes xir a better person than you while standing in an art exhibit that features a nude man pissing into the open air as a challenge against established norms.

These coastal jackasses imagine themselves to be superior because of the presumption of education and the introduction of "authentic" culture from immigrants and the Little Guy without realizing they've grossly misinterpreted the last century of academia and art, and that America's Little Guy is the fucking rural areas of the Midwest, Flyovers, and the Coast that they so deeply abhor.

The only exception to this are the coasties who do not participate in this purely synthetic horseshit, and are just Normal People™, and the psycho-zealots from the Midwest/Flyover/rural areas who legitimately believe being uneducated retards that spurn anything that could be remotely construed as "progressive" makes them more honest, moral people with stronger values. Pro-tip: it doesn't, it makes you fucking stupid, especially because it's just another forced synthetic "cultural identity", the same as the fuccboi, yuppie coastie.

That's the truth. The people who buy into purely synthetic ideologies are fuckstains no matter where they come from. Most people are just normal, and do not identify one way or the other with either groups extreme stupidity.

But the funny thing is that Obama wasn't even a very good "black president". Hell, slick willie clinton was a much better "black president" than Obama ever was.

obammmy was too buys playing "yes man" to his Wall Street donors and and being China's lap dog.

BWCA was great when I first visited around 1977. One of the most beautiful places in flyover land

I went back later in the 1990s and it was overrun with fat fucks and power boats and even if there's no power boats there are still hordes of people tramping through the underbrush with their dogs running everywhere and screaming kids

That's a valid point. I'm from Minneapolis and have spent a lot of childhood on the arrowhead. The amount of disrespect some people have (who LIVE around there) is absolutely abysmal. Our family had a cabin up 1/2 hr northwest of duluth and some of the locals were complete degenerates.

However, you probably just went during a bad weekend. The BWCA only allows a certain amount of people at each entry point so they were probably full when you went in the 90's, did you go on the 4th of july or something? The entire state goes up north around then.
