Why do fruit flavoured candies and drinks and such so rarely taste like the fruit they're trying to emulate? The only ones that come close are green apple, orange and lemon. The rest just taste like some arbitrary sweet shit they decided to call whichever fruit.
-Grape flavoured anything tastes nothing like actual grapes.
-Watermelon flavoured anything tastes nothing like actual watermelon.
-Mango flavoured things usually taste like cleaning solution.
And while I've heard they're supposedly real, I've never been able to get my hands on a 'Blue raspberry'.

Whats the thinking behind coming up with some arbitrary chemical flavour, and deciding to market it as 'Grape'.

I hate fake strawberry. Real strawberries are great, but strawberry flavoured things are just generically sweet. Its just one note, for lack of a better term. At least raspberry or cherry or whatever flavour typically has some tang to it.
