Am I the only person who hates chocolate cake?

Yellow or white cake with chocolate creme, frosting or topping is good, but every cake I've had that has cocoa mixed into the batter has a bitter, disgusting flavor that intrinsically ruins the lightness and airiness of a good cake.

No, but you are a faggot.

No

I don't think about cake much, because it is a food I never eat.

No. But, I don't hate it because it's chocolate. I hate it because it's cake. Wasted potential that pales vs a scrumptious (and dense) chewy brownie imo

Nah. I prefer yellow myself. Unless it's Texas sheet cake. I like that.

Yes, vanilla cake taste way better than chocolate.

Vanilla cake, real buttercream icing (not that whipped dog shit) and strawberry filling is the best cake there is.

Wise words.

Maybe I'm just a faggot but I prefer the taste of fresh fruit to anything that came out of an oven.

I'm not racist, but yeah. You can't force me to like it!

This is addressed in one of the latest issues of Cook's Illustrated:
https://www.cooksillustrated.com/articles/396-chocolate-sheet-cake
I bet nearly all of the chocolate cakes you've had used natural cocoa in the batter. Essentially, that gives the cake a more extreme and somewhat acidic taste compared to using a more expensive dutched cocoa. More important, natural cocoa on average has a lower fat % content than dutched(and some premium brands have an even higher %) which leads to a drier denser cake texture (of course this is what you might desire if you were making brownies). Note the difference in crumb structure between these two example in my image.

Nope, I hate chocolate cake too. It has a weirdly distinct flavour that to me is not chocolatey.
