Seasoned Ground chicken, lime rice, black beans, corn, pico, some cheddar jack cheese, a few avocado bits, cilantro, jalapeño, and the sauce. Was good.

It's called blind baking, and yes, it's possible. You just bake the crust without the filling, and just put in some pie weights (or just dry beans or something) to prevent it from collapsing. Then you bake it a little while before putting in the ingredients and finishing it.

A custard. On cheapo supermarket ones, most of the pie is corn syrup custard with a layer of pecans on top, I prefer a ton of chopped toasted pecans, then adding custard until the nuts are just covered, and topping with raw pecans (because they'll toast to perfection in the oven).

That doesn't matter. Nobody uses the German noun, unless they're speaking Deutsch and referring to salmon in general. If you can't handle using a "Jew" word use gravlax which is a similar Nordic preparation.

Dude pepper jelly is the shit. You can buy it from most grocery stores around here, it's great to have on hand.

It's super bad for you, but hot pepper jelly over a block of room-temp cream cheese and a bag of Fritos is maybe the perfect crowd-pleaser.
