The fuckin bullshit target next to my campus only stocked the king oscars ones, the tin looked small but i was in a rush so fuck it why not? people in this thread seem to like em. I go back to my car, sit on the hood and rip open the tin. No one told me I had to drain the fucks so now there's an oil stain the size of a grapefruit on my good jacket. Anyways I pull out one of the fucks and shove it in my mouth. It tasted fucking heavenly until the god damn salt bit my tongue harder than a ghost pepper. Shit had me gagging. I look at the sodium content and this shit is insane, has like 125% my daily intake. That's when I realized it was a tin of fucking anchovies. Next time I won't make that mistake. VERY different.
Anchovies are way saltier, and are fermented which creates a sour and sulfury flavor. Very intense flavor in a small package, like marmite or greek olives. Can be either the best or the worst thing in the world depending on your taste.

My favorite ways to eat them are as a topping for arugula or spinach, on crispbread with brie, mixed together with a can of sardines, or by themselves out of the can, with alternating bites of dark chocolate.
Enjoy!

Everything i see in the store is processed in china or irradiated from somewhere near china or japan.
Canned or fresh i can't find anything.
Can't even fish locally unless its in a pond or a lake, the rivers are toxic.

I'm so tired, I'm going to eat and go to bed, but I'm SURE there will be another sardines thread tomorrow, so I absolutely promise I'll post it then. And if there is no sardine thread, I'll just start one so I can post it. So keep an eye out for it.

Sure, it's extremely easy. Especially if you have a silicone baking mold (I found one with those heart shapes for $ .50 at a thrift store).

1 1/2 to 2 cups mashed baked sweet potato (I just bake 2 small sweet potatoes and call it done)
1 can sardines in oil, mashed (WITH the oil)
1 egg
Just enough flour to form a cookie dough consistency (Try to use a non-wheat flour, because dogs don't digest wheat very well. You can use oat flour, chickpea flour, rice flour, potato flour, etc. I used a flour blend I bought at the Indian market that's a mix of rice, chickpea, and lentil flour).
Fish sauce for finishing

Mix everything together well, till it looks like a cookie dough. Then spoon into the molds (or you can just put spoonfuls on a greased cookie sheet like you would for cookies) and bake at 350F for 15 minutes. Let them cool a bit, and then brush with fish sauce, a couple of times. Set oven to 200F and put them back in the oven to let the fish sauce bake on, and to dehydrate a bit. Just feel them every so often to see how hard they're getting, and remove them when they're as firm as you like.
I keep a weeks worth out at a time, and freeze the rest. It should make about 36 dog biscuits, or more if you make them very small.

You can leave out brushing on the fish sauce if you like, but dogs fucking love it.

>> No.9967282

>>9967256
Drain the oil, unless you are using them in a dish that needs oil, then you can use that oil to cook them and whatever else with ( as long as it's sardines in olive oil, at least).

>> No.9967303

>>9967274
Oh, and I forgot, if you're using a silicone baking mold, after the initial baking time, after they've cooled a bit, pop them out of the mold and put them on a baking sheet before brushing on the fish sauce and putting them back in the oven. It helps them dehydrate more evenly.

here's my meal suggestion:
1. slice croissant
2. add sardines (and projute if ya want)
3. pile on olive salad
4. slice tomatoes and add on top
5. coleslaw and kimchi on the side

idk about you but to me that's a tasty fuckin dinner.

6. save saury. saute onions and mix with that onion and peach hot sauce, and pour over the saury

Bam, you used every single thing on the counter.
