On a scale from 0 to imminent hospitalization, how bad is reusing day old bacon grease to cook my eggs?

If you're killing the bacteria from the eggs, of course you're killing the other bacteria brainlet

>> No.9903387

When you heat up or cook food, you are killing all the bacteria.

A better question might be:
Is this bacon oil rancid (expired / foul-smelling), or is it still good to cook with?

It's not just killing the current bacteria that can make you sick, but their leftover waste product that doesn't get destroyed by heat which can also make you sick. People get food poisoning from completely cooked food.

Save bacon grease in a glass custard bowl. Can refrigerate for years , use to cook eggs, make roux, etc. or save for weeks unrefrigrated if it is pure fat

Why do people like using bacon grease? It doesn't taste very good to me... the good bits are the brown bits at the bottom of the pan imo

It makes great breakfast gravy. I use to like to fry my eggs in it but these days I prefer lard for my eggs.

what? if you cook your roux with High fire. it will burn. but if you cook it on a normal to med-low heat it will brown nicely. which is a huge difference.
>does it actually add bacon flavor?
honestly I've never made breakfast gravy or sausage gravy from anything else. so I'd like to think yes, I hate white pepper gravy
