Singleton is a brand by one of the big companies that owns multiple distilleries, or something like that. The color of the bottle should correspond to where it was made, and it should also have text saying where it was made on the bottle/package. As far as I know they are all legit distilleries. It is a marketing ploy to try and bring in new people to scotch. I think the idea is to get you in with the Singleton and then upsell you to the other products by each distillery.

I want to try some Canadian whisky, since I'm pretty new to this. Unfortunately I live in Sweden, and we have really strict laws when it comes to alcohol, and unless you special order there's not a huge variety of brands available. Most whiskys you can get here will be some sort of scotch.

I think it has really amazing mouthfeel. I know they try to produce a more old-fashioned style. They barrel the whiskey at a pretty low proof and minimally dilute it later, which I think is most unique about them.
As for something similar, you'll probably get somewhat similar flavors from a corn>>rye≈barley mash bill in #4 char barrels.
Buffalo Trace sort of fits the bill at the same price point, but I think it is a bit sweeter and a bit less spicy. Wild Turkey also has higher end offerings that I haven't tried, but I imagine would be quite good.

Monkey Shoulder tonight out of a brand new set of Glencairn glasses. I got a bottle of Angels Envy for christmas from my parents but I'd like to save that for special occasions if possible

I got the Singleton Glendullan 12 as a gift for my sister and her husband as a bit of a joke (our last name is Singleton)

It was actually pretty good. More than anything I got a sort of chocolatey taste from it. It's not too expensive either, about $30-$40 for a 750ml

Go with a pint of bottom shelf Rye in an enema bag, or you might as well tattoo "Plebeian" on your forehead.

Whoa. Is that yours? Where did you get it? What does it taste like? How much did it cost? Finally, suppose you were to wake up tomorrow and find you are Haruhiko Kuroda, the governor of the Central Bank of Japan. Given the Japanese people's tendency to invest preferentially in real estate or overseas bonds, explain in 500 words or less your strategy for curbing deflation, using only and all tools within the legal authority of the Central Bank, but not limited to monetary policy.

Just found this at my local liquor store the other day and holy shit, it's fantastic. Smoothest bourbon I've ever had.

If you want cheap whiskey that isn't shit then get Ezra Brooks for around the same price. Way less sugar and more mellow. It hurts less the next day

Tried Bourbon for the first time today and had this baby. I am genuinely impressed as a Scotch drinker.
