I've been to Japan several times and so far the only prohibitively expensive restaurants that I saw are those continental restaurants at large hotels.

Mom and pop restaurants or izakaya that served everyday meals are reasonably priced and you can get a filling meal for less than 10 bucks. Even the conveyor belt sushi restaurant are pretty cheap

People are willing to pay more for Japanese food. Thats why you'll find Koreans and other Asians shoehorning Japanese food into their local cuisine menus, or just outright opening a Japanese restaurant instead.

>> No.9791677

In Japan, French cuisine is more expensive than Japanese cuisine.

The expensive Japanese meal that I ate was SASAKI.
It is about 20,000 yen to 30,000 yen.
http://gion-sasaki.sakura.ne.jp/

For Tokyo, Shofukuro's Tokyo branch would be useful.
About 15,000 yen to 20,000 yen.
http://www.shofukuro.jp/english

There is also a more expensive Japanese restaurant.
However, it is difficult for ordinary people to book.

There is also a cheaper and genuine wonderful restaurant.
However, the taste of authentic quiet and deep Japanese food is hard to understand even for young Japanese as well as foreigners.
It may feel only as a simple taste.

There are two kinds of coffee shops in Japan.

One is a coffee shop of regular drinks and snacks called "Kissa_ten (shop enjoying tea)".
The other is a special coffee shop called "Kouhii_senmonten (coffee only shop)".

There are many types of coffee beans in special shops.
In a special coffee shop, coffee experts will manually create coffee according to customer's order.
There, a cup of coffee is about 500 yen -1000 yen price.
Light snacks are also offered, but there are fewer types than "Kissa_ten".
A good shopkeeper brews good coffee and a poor shopkeeper puts off tasty coffee.
So customers will be careful and choose shops.
The awful taste shop closes in 1 - 2 years.

There is also an intermediate shop of two kinds of coffee shops.
There are cheaper coffee in fast food shops and convenience stores.
Some shops use machines to make relatively good quality coffee.
The coffee situation in Japan is complicated.

Really depends on Japanese influences in your area. Düsseldorf for example has buttloads of authentical, affordable Japanese restaurants and fast food shacks, it also has an unreasonable Japanese influence because pretty much every single Japanese company has thier European base here.

One thing to keep in mind is that cheaper Japanese restaurants are well-intergrated in the city food network, they usually buy meat from the local butchers and fish from the local fishers because they like fresh stuff, so the settlement of a non-expensive japanese restaurant also depends on the local food market

>that will be $900.

Most expensive Japanese meal I've had was $30 a person including tea, and that was two meals for me, and it was GOOD. I know for a fact half the ingredients had to be imported, they had stuff you honest to god cannot find in any store here, not even the jap import store had this stuff. Mountain vegetables for example. Vegetables and other ingredients I've never even seen before. Everything was amazing. Fortunately I went with vegans, and half the obligate dishes (many side dishes, no choice) had fish or meat, so I got all of them.
Nigga thought japanese were buddhist and so must be vegan. Nigga they shinto. They live on a fucking godforsaken mountainy rock, they eat fish or they die.

But if you think about it, japanese food should be more expensive. Every meal has about 5-10 dishes in it, that's more prep time, whereas say chinese is just one dish.

Either vietnamese or mexican is cheapest. Flip food is trailer park tier.

"cheap" curry looks better than "high end" one.

Yesterday's lunch, I ate a pork ginger at a coffee specialty store.
For a long time I thought that there is a dish called "pork ginger" in the West.
... Is it possibly a "Western food" unique to Japan?

I got rice less.
It is a coffee shop lunch. It is different from a full-fledged restaurant.

Coffee is "El Salvador". This cafe uses Vacuum coffee maker. In that cafe, we extract one cup at a time for each customer's order.

Thank you.
Pictures of meals look strange to landscape photographers and commercial photographers.
Dark restaurant. Light source that can not be selected.
They open the aperture of the lens. And that is becoming a habit.

The most famous of pork dishes in Japan is tonkatsu. The pork ginger is hiding in it, but the Japanese loves the pork ginger as well.
When asking Google Professor, he said that the pork ginger is a unique dish in Japan.

the only time ive seen it on the menu at a restaurant i ordered it and it was watery and full of carrots and other filler vegetables aka it was fucking awful.

ive made it at home a few times the correct way but getting thinly sliced pork is such a bitch unless i go to an asian market to get it. every fucking time i go to a regular supermarket and ask them to slice a shoulder thin they give me a bunch of shit like "i guess if ya really want it that thin, heh" and they still dont cut it thin enough and they just end up shredding the meat up all half ass.

sorry. I uploaded Japanese.

I found a picture of a good Indian style curry. It was taken in 2011.
Rich spice. Spicy bowl and soft bowl.
It was a dry season when I traveled to India. Sweat floating on your skin does not dry out quickly in Japan with high humidity. I will let you know that the difference in the feel of the skin is not India here.
This dish really was the taste of Indian curry. A slight difference was that Nan baked with Japanese flour was a smoother texture than that in India.
