I messed up. I was boiling some pinto beans on the stove top, forgot about it, and twenty minutes later remembered and ran back to find the water had evaporated and the beans were ruined.

So now the pot is discolored and has these spots in it. What can I do about this? I tried scrubbing it with soap and water and it won't go away. Please help me, what do I do to clean this pot? I feel bad that I made this dumb mistake.

Ive been down this road.
If that pot had a non stick coating, or any coating, its fucked. Otherwise scrub harder with more abrasives

Soak that bitch, use abrasive brushes, or get a new pot.

is it teflon?
throw it away
is it SS, CS or CI?
stick it in the oven on the clean cycle.

Fill it up with a mixture of vinegar and water. Boil it for 30 minutes. Pour out the water and scrub with a steel scrubbing pad. Repeat the process how ever many times necessary until clean. There might still be some stains at the end, but as long as it is smooth it is okay.

If op is asking such a question what are the odds that he knows what this means?

They're just elitist retards who think teflon is toxic despite almost no evidence pointing to that, and think archaic materials like cast iron are still superior to engineered steels and metals.

Just use steel wool, or the abrasive side of a sponge, and put some elbow grease into it. Make sure to use hot soapy water.

>> No.9773269

Throw it away. You don't use nonstick cooking vessels after the nonstick has been damaged. No, it's not toxic or dangerous *if the coating has not been violated*

jesus christ man, they have goodwill where you live.

You can use them just fine after the nonstick coating goes. It just won't be as nonstick.

If it's teflon he's definitely fucked. Health issues aside, there's no way the coating will remain intact after how bad he fucked it up, making it unusable.

My post wasn't an invitation for an argument or for you to post in response. When I post good information, your response isn't requested or required. Thank you.

I'm sure for the 15 year olds in the thread it's entertaining to tell OP it's okay to continue using this. You do not continue using nonstick vessels after the nonstick has been damaged OP. End of story. Go get something from goodwill for 4 dollars.

This. But OP needs to confirm whether it's teflon or not. Too hard to tell from the pic. The black could just be burnt shit.

Have you ever burnt food on a pan before? Looks exactly like that. Not saying it's not teflon, but he needs to tell us.

Jesus fucking christ I honestly despise you

*I* don't need to be told. Maybe YOU do. The pot is OBVIOUSLY TEFLON. OBVIOUSLY. MAYBE LITTLE KEK-BOY YOU WHO CAN'T MAKE A SINGLE FUCKING STATEMENT IN HIS LIFE WITHOUT CERTAINTY NEEDS TO BE TOLD. I DON'T NEED TO BE TOLD.
