is veganism a passing fad?
there seems to be way more people going back to meat than adopting a vegan diet lately and there wasn't too many vegans to begin with?
what does this mean for vegans? will they be forced to either stop or have t prepare every single thing they eat from scratch?

The Major difference is Vegans tend to whine louder and more often about being vegan and how evil meat eaters are and they enjoy doing it everywhere. It's more like a shitty religion, Like Hare Krishnas, than a dietary choice.

I read that b12 is actually produced by bacteria/fungi that is found in meat/poultry/dairy stuff and can also food in nutritional yeast.
But besides that and almonds what else has b12? A lot of the countries that have the longest life Span at least have some form of meat.
Makes me wonder how vegans lived back then if they didn't have access to nutritional yeast or almonds.

You see, when there's an evolution trait that works, then the species retain that trait. For example eating meat. If an evolution trait it's shit (for example, coastie nu male manlets not eating meat) they just don't reproduce and this mutation gets swept out of the gene pool.

Sure, but vegan's do have a lower level of it. Of course I might be reversing cause and effect and non vegans might be producing more of it as an anti-inflammatory response.

Carnosine levels can be boosted for a couple of hours with sufficient direct intake as well, precursors don't help, which will occur more readily with meat (or supplements).

Trying to kick these above homeostasis levels really is more about medicine than nutrition, but we're not exactly living a natural lifestyle regardless of veganism ... so there can be benefit to that.

>Phytoestrogens have widespread effects in the adult brain which have previously been reviewed in detail elsewhere [145, 201,146,202]. Both the PVN and the ventromedial nucleus (VMN) are critical nuclei for the initiation and regulation of sex behavior [214] and each contains primarily one ER subtype. Only ERβ is expressed in the PVN while the VMN contains primarily ERα [256]. Coumestrol and genistein stimulate ERβ mRNA expression in the PVN, an effect opposite to that of 17β-estradiol [205,203]. It is not yet clear what the functional significance of this might be but the PVN is the primary site of oxytocin (OT) production, a peptide hormone important for social behavior and the facilitation of sexual behavior [296,33,229].

>A pair of studies that have had a profound impact on the field, and greatly contributed to health advisories in Europe was conducted in marmosets. Twins were fed either soy formula or milk formula. Males on the soy diet had lower serum testosterone concentrations and higher numbers of Leydig cells at the discontinuation of soy formula use. As adults, the soy fed marmoset had larger testes and lower serum testosterone levels than its twin demonstrating that the impacts were persistent [271,253].

In vitro assays have found that, although most phytoestrogens, including the isoflavones, bind both ERα and ERβ, and activate ER-dependent gene transcription through both subtypes, they generally have a higher relative binding affinity for ERβ than ERα [133,215,35,132]. Genistein is 7- to 48-fold more selective for ERβ than ERα, depending on the assay used [133,132,17,107]. The relative estrogenic potency of genistein for ERβ is approximately 30-fold higher than for ERα. Potency estimates vary considerably depending on the assay used [117], but as a general principle, most isoflavones bind and activate both ERα and ERβ more readily than synthetic EDCs including BPA [133]. Once bound, isoflavones do not act like typical estrogen agonists, but rather more like selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMS) such as the breast cancer drug tamoxifen which is an ER agonist in the uterus and bone but an antagonist in the breast [193]. This differential activity by phytoestrogens and SERMS results, in part, from the profile of co-activator and co-repressor proteins present in the cell. It also now apparent that each ER ligand induces unique conformational changes, which then influences the recruitment of co-regulator proteins and interactions with the estrogen response element (ERE) [159]. In the presence of phytoestrogens and other endocrine disruptors it appears that ERβ is more efficient than ERα at recruiting coactivators including TIF2 and SRC-1a [230].

You are taking a SERM. You think you are not being feminized, but are. I tricked you all by shilling prostate cancer studies over and over again for years. You know who else has low rates of prostate cancer? TRANSGENDER WOMEN!

No, everyone is basically denying that. Humans are and probably always have been omivores. Meat and Plants. There is more to food than saying that's "B12". Something as simple as sugar got so many different different varieties in molecular structures that there are new one found in regular fashion. Same with protein or simply amino-acid in general.

It's kind of like Vanillin. The syntetic re-creation of the vanilla taste. It's obviously Vanilla taste however compared to real Vanilla it's only close but not really the same. On a molecular level Vanillin got the same structure as Vanilla but only in the middle, something is missing on both ends of the structure. That's what the difference makes in taste.

So it's quite logical to asume that when you do not eat meat, there is something missing from your diet that cannot be found anywhere else. Simply because not every molecular structure is know, that is a fact. Anyone saying you don't need meat just doesn't know shit or is lying for some reason.

>People who read books know a fact that vegetarians do not- that at one point in history, the Earth's total population of humans dropped to between 5,000 and 10,000 individuals, due to the eruption of Mt. Toba in Sumatra, which killed off most of the available plant and animal life on Earth in 71,000 BC. During this period of time, humans were confined to an
>extraordinarily small area of Africa that escaped glaciation, where they subsisted on a diet that was "approximately 50-70% meat and 50-30% plants, respectively." This diet was necessitated by the die-off of plants and animals, and the lack of a varied diet that could have been otherwise obtained though plant gathering. It was at this time that the Neanderthal diet came to consist of naught but meat, due to the complete lack of availability of edible vegetation, which likely lasted for at least 1000 years.(Plants/climate)

If your argument is that eating meat is cheaper then you can compare the meat consumption in the third world to the first world despite the first world having more vegans than most third world countries.

Abstaining completely from meat is a moral argument not an economic one. The richer countries will have access to more diverse moral systems by nature. An african may eat a tenth of the meat as a European on average but is more likely to eat is when he can afford it because he does not have access to the diversity of moralities that the European does.

>Animals store vitamin B12 in liver and muscle and some pass the vitamin into their eggs and milk; meat, liver, eggs and milk are therefore sources of the vitamin for other animals, including people.[5][7][25] For humans, the bioavailability from eggs is less than 9%, compared to 40% to 60% from fish, fowl and meat.[26] Insects are a source of B12 for animals (including other insects and humans).[25][27]
>Animal sources with a significant content of vitamin B12 (range among top 20 sources of 50 to 99 µg per 100 grams)[28] include clams, organ meats (especially liver) from lamb, veal, beef, and turkey, fish eggs, mackerel, and crab meat.[4][5]

Hindu birth rates have gone down ever since the advent of modern medicine. That they're higher than white birthrates now does not mean that they're not decreasing. As a matter of fact they're pretty close to the American white birth-rate.

More people that I know are vegan today, than they were 5 years ago. This is the trend in America as people reject how disgusting and morally wrong factory farming is. I have no idea why you'd imply its a passing fad. It's clearly here to stay, and the number of vegans in the us today is higher than it ever been and accounts for hundreds of millions of animals lives saved every year. Take you (pro)tein shilling elsewhere.

It's actually indicated more that cooking had more of a impact on the structuring of our brain up until now as well. And we can still get heart disease, atherosclerosis, arterial clotting, and other negative health consequences from meat. True bred carnivores can't obtain those diseases from consuming meat, as well as the fact that there's indeed health benefits shown in trials of those individuals who have practiced veganism for a couple years or longer, even benefits earlier than that. That being said, the issue doesn't lie in the area of "meat is the most healthy and neccesry source of food" for meat eaters, I think it's realistically a couple things, because I'm omnivore.
1. Meat in general is extremely flavorful, even with the most miniscule ingredients. Salt, pepper, etc
2. It's extremely convenient, besides certain legumes, beans, or vegetables being packed with a fair amount of carbs, some of them have a good amount of protein too. But also a fair variety of cuts of meats have a very good helping of protein, fats, and some carbs, and a few fatty acids and b12
3. It's harder to find a vegan substitute that's sasifactory enough for most people. Most of these vega burgers or quinoa burgers or whatever sort of meat replacement don't do a bad job of trying to replicate the meaty texture, in fact, I think some of them do top work on the replication. Even with that, there is the still overbearing vegetable/starch taste residing from that burger, and even with certain spices/sauce, you're still aware of eating a non-meat.

All in all, no it's not necessary for humans to eat meat, and overconsumption of meat even mildly can be dangerous to our health. But sometimes flavor takes precedent over health. This is, in fact, a cooking board, and flavor takes that spot for most people.

Holy fuck you're an idiot, the only reason you get those b12 fortified meats from the grocery stores is because they give those animals good amounts of b12 injections and sometimes even in thier food as well. The amount stupidity in this thread, it's ridiculous.

Basic science check

phytoestrogens (I.E plant estrogens) do not get converted in the body to estrogen
Mamillian estrogen, which is found in our bodies, also is converted from consuming more of it, say milk, which is packed with it.

Vegetarianism and veganism are only for high IQ and high test alpha males. The typical bloated, obese kids addicted to their nuggies and fast food goy-feed will never understand--but what do you expect from kiddies whose main argument is "muh taste".

The issue is just that veganism is a huge lifestyle change. It's insanely difficult to pull that kind of thing off.

Vegetarian/vegan movements would have a lot more success if they promoted reducing meat instead of eliminating it entirely

I don't believe in pure veganism. I like to push going "90% vegan", and making meat a rarity in your diet. Maybe a once per week or twice per month sort of thing. Cutting back on animal products in general is probably pretty damn good for you, and I seem to feel better the more I cut back. My shits go better, I have more energy in the gym, ect.

I'm completely against factory farming both for the inhumanity of what the animals are put through and for the damage it does to the environment on both local and global scales. Way too much land is dedicated to raising food animals, cattle especially.

I'm hoping that lab-grown meat can fix this, because most human beings seem to lack the agency to make beneficial changes to themselves or the world. They're just going to be lazy and keep doing the same shit in willful, malignant ignorance.

If there's one piece of praise I can throw towards vegans, it's that they have discipline. Meat is delicious, and most people are too addicted to gratification to ever deny themselves anything for the betterment of themselves or their fellow man. A person who can actually walk with their talk is a rare thing.

I think it will, it'll just take a while. Having a generation of kids grow up with it being available will make them more likely to eat it than an older generation who will think it's unnatural and be afraid of it. Plus maybe a celebrity endorsement might help, or something like that.

My only issue with it is that they're altering the nutrition of it which could be a bad thing. Saying that red meat without heme iron is better, or milk without lactose is better. But if you don't eat red meat often or can digest lactose, there's no benefit in taking them out and it could actually be bad to do so. Some studies have shown that lactose benefits young children, or that it can keep your gut flora healthy.
