Why would you guys shill for the Jew of Belize?
>The product was the first commercially successful agricultural product manufactured in and exported from Belize, under the name of "Melinda’s Hot Sauce". Once the market for the product had been established, the distributor who was marketing the sauce, trademarked the product name, effectively cutting Sharp out of her own business. After a five-year struggle, Sharp gave up the name to Melinda's in exchange for being released from her exclusive contract with the distributor and re-branded the product under her own name.

I really fell in love with that sauce as my daily, multipurpose, table sauce. The Optimus Primo, Painapple, Unholy Trinity, Lethal Ingestion, Zombie Torchbearer, etc are mostly too hot to use as a general condiment (delicious, but you have to plan around them). The Lucky Dog Black Label brings a huge depth of flavor with burn that builds very slowly giving me plenty of leeway to enjoy the dish itself without the getfukt superhot burn kicking in. </shill>

There is no 'dark red'. Maybe you mean the mayan recipe. Anyway...

Green - unripened(green) habanero
Red - ripened habanero
Mayan - fire roasted
Reserve - even more fire roasted
Caribbean - different spices and lime
Chipotle - added chipotle in adobo

Green and red taste similar but the red is a little hotter.
The brownish Mayan is much hotter with a unique charred quality.
The reserve is not as hot as the mayan but with a similar yet even more charred or smoky quality.

Caribbean is similar to red but not as hot and made with lime...this is similar to marie sharps.

Chipotle is chipotle. Good but not amazing. It was around before people new what chipotle was.

So here is my problem: I often try to buy hot sauce that says "7/10 hot!" But it tastes about as hot as Tabasco. I make the mistake of thinking because it says habenaro that it may be comparable in heat. So at this point I don't know how hot I want something but I certainly want it hotter than tabasco. I love vinegarry sauces (not quite as much as tabasco though). I also like sweet although it is not a requirement. Can anyone recommend a sauce that might test my boundaries for heat but also has good flavor?

Melinda's Scotch Bonnet.
It is not normally something i recommend as i think there are much better Melinda's sauce available but you said you like vinegary and a little hotter than Tabasco.

If you want to go beyond salty vinegar then you should try Marie Sharp's. Her products are all clean, of high quality, and reasonably priced. If Tabasco is your benchmark for heat i would start with Marie Sharp's Fiery Hot.

>> No.9698859

>>9698797
Thanks, I'll order both. I am not necessarily for vinegar either. I haven't tried a lot of hot sauce. I don't really like the taste of sriracha though. That is my benchmark for not vinegarry at this point. I think it's fine on some stuff like pizza but I wouldn't put it on a sandwich

>> No.9698930

>>9698859
Well if youre this open-minded and curious i would skip the scotch bonnet becuase its just a ho-hum Marie Sharp's then add Melinda's Fire Roasted and a bottle of El Yucateco xxx Mayan.

That will be three high-quality and distictly different sauces that have as much flavor as heat.

I like the Yucateco Chipotle sauce but it's a bit too sweet. Its sugar (corny syrup) content for me is just stupid. If so many other sauce brands can make amazing sauces without making corn syrup the second ingredient in the label, then its stupid of them to do so.
