Even before I started drinking hard, when I was sixteen, I was hospitalized after not taking a shit all summer. Went to pee one day and literally couldn't; dad rushed me to the hospital and turned out I had so much shit built up inside me that it was literally bulging my bladder up against my abdominal wall. They had to give me a catheter and manually drain my bladder, then feed me laxatives for three days and told me if I couldn't shit, they'd have to cut me open and clean it out manually.

Nowadays I don't shit for a week at a time and I'm haunted by that happening so I take stool softener regularly and I'm afraid it still doesn't do enough.

Feels bad man.

I am a currently a NEET and USUALLY limit my drinking to one "night" per week (sometimes twice). By night I mean: I start drinking at a time and don't stop drinking until several hours pass that time the next day (don't sleep). For instance, I started drinking at 2 P.M. yesterday for Halloween and am still drinking at 8:30 P.M. now. Jim Beam (Honey THEN Maple THEN APPLE) used to be my thing before I got laid off. I then started exploring things in a similar price range and found that I love Brandy; I ended up finding myself easily drinking it straight out the bottle instead of mixing like I did with Whiskey. Now I am trying to be "responsible" by going cheap and only drinking Taaka vodka.

I am not an alcoholic, right?
I don't think so.

If you get addicted to it alcohol actually makes you pretty sick but Kratom withdrawal is way easier to deal with than booze. Most of my friends say they don't feel anything from the Kratom but I love the shit.

I'm off the booze now (thankfully), but I did get into drinking because of financial stress, so I can explain this well.

What got me hitting the bottle were problems with my business. I owned a machine shop, and I was making a lot of money doing work for the oilfield industry. I had recently invested about a half-million dollars in additional machinery. Then after a few months the price of oil plummeted. When that happens there is less drilling, so less demand for my services. I had to lay off 6 employees and soon I couldn't keep up payments on my machinery and rent. That's stressed me out into drinking.

Now you're right--booze does cost money. But the amount of money I spent on booze wouldn't have even made a dent in my financial problems. When you're worried about expenses that cost tens of thousands a month, buying a few $15 bottles of vodka a week wouldn't even make a dent.

Most countries use "debit card" to mean a bank access card. it draws straight from your liquid funds in your checquing account, and is generally not accepted by online retailers because the numbers and protocols are bank-specific and are simply too much of a pain in the ass to make it worth working with, especially when PayPal and credit cards exist.

>Also most debit cards I see these days have a Visa logo on them
mine does too but it doesn't work. it advertises that it CAN be upgraded to be usable online, but many countries have different ways of doing this and they're all shit and awful compared to just taking out an actual Visa card. paying with your damn mobile phone is easier and more common, it seems

idk every party ive been to lasts about 6 hours but any given guest lasts about 3 before either getting tired or going off to bang some slag. same for bars, i find people dont really stay longer than 3 hours in a sitting. they at least go home entirely or have a meal somewhere and then come back if they really in it for the long haul

longer than that is reserved for dedicated outings at the pub and even then seems motivited by missing the last bus more often than a genuine unwillingness to cut the party short

phew, I had that last night for the first time in a while. Went on a hard three day binge, my longest in quite some time. Ended up getting withdrawals and last night, after having not drank for 2 days, I was staying at my parents house to visit and was sleeping naked in the guest bed when all of a sudden I startled awake with a light misting of sweat all over my body. It sucked, but luckily I wasn't getting sleep paralysis or anything like that...I think I'll be fine tonight...although earlier I suddenly felt very hot and a little itchy on my face. Not sure if that was related to being a few days sober or what. But yea...tonight will definitely be better.

Alcohol does a lot more than merely remove inhibition.

There is no true authentic self that was hiding and gets exposed by drinking, that's a silly folk psychology meme. There is a brain with certain tendencies, and adding ethanol to that brain will make that brain function differently in all kinds of ways. But it does not make it 'more of itself' in a straightforward way.

That's a total load of shit and we all know it.
I think it does make you "more yourself"
What alcohol does is make your brain less functional. Shit is slower and less effective.
And the result? Stripping away conditioning and inhibition.
For example, a straight man does not become gay while drunk unless he was already gay while sober. It's not like "whoops, it's just the booze guys, it MADE me suck cock".
Same thing with everything else. The brain is a complex machine with many layers. Alcohol strips those layers away until it just stops working and you black out.
You can't instantly play the piano despite never having touched one before.
Alcohol does not insert inclinations, abilities, or desires.
When you're drunk there is NOTHING NEW to your behaviours. You are always you. And the you you are when there's nothing holding you back is the most you you can be.
If you're a weepy mess when you drink, it's because you're a sadfuck holding together when you're sober.
If you're an aggressive asshole, you're an angry cunt who doesn't attack people because he's inhibited

>> No.9638238

>>9638223
That's partially true.
The important thing is that inhibitions are learned. If you never learned those suppressive techniques, then you're be like that all the time. And that makes you a cunt deep inside.

Like I said before, alcohol is just one of the many ways to loosen inhibition. Maybe you had a bad night's sleep, whoops now your'e acting like a total jerk. Just like you were drunk

>> No.9638241

>>9638230
somewhat agree, but the exception would be when you're on blackout autopilot. Then the lights are on, but no one's home.

>> No.9638259

>>9638214
Alcohol does not merely remove inhibitations, it also makes you generally cognitively impaired. So it's not only doing something you would want to do but normally would not do, but acting upon false premises because your estimation of situations is flawed.

A simply example would be that you might get into an argument with a guy for something he implied, and what he implied is something you would also get in an argument over while sober, but you misunderstood his implications in the first place. So you're not more of a cunt, you just mistakenly thought he was a cunt.

People are different people while drunk because they are in a different world, not because they're in the same world but merely with less impulse control.

>> No.9638267

>>9638241
Nope, still you. What's turned off is short term memory. It's like typing on the keynoard when the computer is turned off. You can still only type what you are and what you know, but there is no retention of it. It is a "sobering" fact that something like half the people in jail can't remember what they did to get them there. But they still did it. That's why blacking out is not a defense.

>> No.9638279

>>9638230
See: >>9638259

Maybe someone becomes aggressive because he experiences others as more aggressive. If his perception is altered it's not merely a question of inhibition.

If your friend eats a bunch of datura and wants to kill you because he thinks you're a demon it's not that he wanted to kill you all along but merely controlled himself, but that you appear different to him.

This also happens with alcohol, although in more subtle ways. Hell, just consider beer googles. You don't just want to fuck ugly girls when you're drunk, you actually think ugly girls are more beautiful than they are. You still want to fuck beautiful girls, you just can't competently discern them.

>> No.9638282

>>9638259
That's the thing. If you fight someone because you don't like them, no matter how much of a cunt you thought they were, then you are the cunt.
Besides, good people understand that they're drunk and take that into account. Of course, like you said, the drunken brain is pretty shit at its job, but it's still mostly there.
I'm three sheets to the fucking wind now and I'm just like I am when I'm sober. Except more willing to opine and searing every other world.

You strip away everything from a good person, then they're still a good person. Right down to the point where they pass the fuck out.
If a man is throwing punches after half a dozen beers, then he was just a fucking asshole the entire time and the only thing stopping him was just skin deep.

>> No.9638296

You can't compared datura to alcohol.
Your brain is a gigantic game of telephone. One neuron talks to another neuron and so forth and so forth. What alcohol does is put cotton between those neurons in a progressive fashion. When you're shitfaced, your neurons can't hear shit from each other. The little voice that says "DO NOT" steadily becomes "DONO'" to "D'NO" to "D'O"

Psychoactive shit isn't about degrading signal connection it's about manipulating it.

Nope, not true at all. If I fall asleep shithammered and someone wakes me, I'm basically a narcoleptic sleepwalker.

Fell asleep in the passenger seat of my brother's truck after watching his band play at a bar. He put in the key to warm it up, and then tapped on the window to see if I was alright (before going back inside and getting his drums to load up). I must've took that as a note that someone wanted me to move, and drive this truck I've drove tens of times before. One smashed truck and three lamp posts later I wake up handcuffed to a bench in the cop-shop. My intentions were never to drive that night, and yet I did for absolutely no reason.

Anyways, we've seemed to have come to an agreement of sorts. Take a drink, mate. To health and all that shit

It depends on whether it's from Ireland or Scotland
If you're English, you can spell it any which way since they're both pretty much the same

Pretty civil of us desu, feels good.

I’m freshly on the wagon though so I’ll just sip my water.

I've had customers (almost always alone) come buy several bottles of bottom shelf gin and vodka, then come in later that day to buy more. It's kind of painful, just because they get defensive, even when I just want them to be fine. I can clean up a fifth of bourbon in a day ez, but I'm still curious how one could buy three fifths, then come back, by car, for more.

That's what I figure. I am at least coherent and try to make a relevant comment on the weather or something in the news or just something I see. I know they see people who are obviously in end stage alcoholism all the time, so they aren't wondering about me.

I just stopped driving about 6 months ago. I know my reflexes and executive abilities are compromised. I fucking hate the bus and it is going to be a long winter, but I want to kill myself, not other people. And just the other day when we were crossing the street, I got to grab an older lady by the coat and pull her out of the way of a speeding car. Because I don't drive, I saved a fucking life! Felt good, man.

And the cops are all over it, just like fucking sharks. It exposes you to too much. I can't wait for self driving cars. People are too slow and stupid to drive.

>These yeast strains enable a very rapid fermentation to full strength, in some cases in as little as three days (compared to several weeks required by traditional wine yeast strains). Such a short production time naturally does not allow the yeast to become lees. The introduction of turbo yeast reinforced the public's view of kilju as an easy method of procuring cheap alcohol.
