Figure out why you fucked up so that management is giving other people hours instead of you.

Do other people work harder than you do? Are they more competent than you? Are they more social than you? Are they less creepy than you? Do they kiss ass better than you do? Figure out the reason, then fix it.

Once you're blackballed, there's no way to undo it, this is the modern new way to fire people without confrontation.
You just give them less hours and take away responsibilities until they get frustrated and leave.

Do you work at Applebee's? Apparently Applebee's is rolling out a point system for up-selling. Any server that doesn't get 150 points in add on sales gets taken off the schedule for five days.

It's a common tactic to prevent people from collecting unemployment because the more claims a business has, the more they have to pay into state unemployment.
My Mom used to run the players club computer systems for a casino in Deadwood. When they outsourced her job, instead of laying her off and letting her collect unemployment they made her a part time cage cashier so that she had to quit to find a better paying job.

Well, in the sense that salaried jobs don't schedule hours because you always work then that's true. But I had a director at a big insurance company who pushed out employees all the time without actually firing them. He made it clear they weren't wanted and eventually gave them the option to either resign or get fired. Needless to say they all chose to "move on" quietly

>> No.9628092

Back when I was stuck managing retail, my bosses convinced me to hire a guy because they needed to fill a diversity quota. I didn't want to hire him, because I didn't think he was a fit.

Of course he started working and was a shit employee, so he got ghosted on all of the schedules, but still came in diligently to check each month. Each manager kept passing him off to another and eventually they decided it was my responsibility to "deal with it" because I hired him. His mom even came in to talk to me.

Eventually he quit and it sure felt shitty. That was the first person I ever hired.

Well, he wasn't a good employee, but it was more that he was disliked than his performance in total. His mom was so relieved he'd found work and didn't realize that even the best employees in our place got 15 hours.

It's no fun ducking around someone instead of giving them actual feedback about their work so they can improve. I'm happy I work in a real job now where when someone is struggling, we coach them up instead of making it apparent they're not allowed in the clique.
