How does /ck/ do beans?

All I've ever done is reheat canned beans and I feel like I'm missing out on a whole world of legume delights.

I don't care for beans, but I just felt it necessary to state how much I love the word "legume"

I do many different recipes but the basic procedure is the same:
-soak beans overnight; discard rinse water.
-put beans in a pot with aromatic vegetables, seasonings, and homemade stock. A cured pork product like a chunk of country ham, smoked hock, ham bone, etc. is often involved.
-simmer until the beans are tender

Cooking them seems like an enormous pain in the ass and since I only use them for chili, I just get canned beans.

canned vegetarian baked beans
add some chipotle sauce and Franks hot sauce
if i'm making ribs i'll take a rib or two and cut up little pieces into the beans
maybe add a tiny bit of honey

almost.
>Cooking them is a moderate pain in the ass and since I mostly use them for chili or bean&cheese quesadillas I just get canned beans.
now, how do I do beans?
>either cook some or buy and strain canned ones.
>heat oil in pan, brown a lot of onions
>add diced bacon, cook
>add finely chopped garlic
>add beans, heat it all up
>salt, a lot of pepper, cayenne pepper, green garlic and cilantro/parsley and a squirt of lime jews
>add a bit of cream a teaspoon of creme fraiche if you want it saucy
>serve on tortillas, or with onion ciabatta

I pressure cook huge batches and store them in jars in the fridge. I devour huge quantities of beans...

I eat beans or lentils as the carb component of every meal.

Onions, maybe a little bacon or cured meat, maybe peppers and or carrots and or celery, garlic, tomato paste, whichever spices you're into, usually oregano, tomato paste, stock of choice. Throw in cans of beans, I don't generally bother draining. Simmer until thick and delicious. Add some corn starch if it suits the sauce.

It just takes time. There's barely any work involved.

you can do a bean dip if you sub beans for chickpea in hummus

Smoke beans, garlic, and onion with hickory and mesquite for 4 hours. Rehydrate on the stove, then whip in food processor with a little cream cheese, hot chili powder, and cumin. Delicious smoked bean dip you can spread on almost anything

I made beans today. They were quite adequate.
