I'm not really that into cooking so I mostly just wander onto here from time to time when I get tired of my home boards (mostly /classical/ and /d2g/ but I frequent /v/, /lit/, and /fa/) and I've gotta say that /ck/ is pretty fucking great as is.

I feel like the average age is either higher or people likely to frequent a board about cooking are more mature/self-sufficient and less autistic in general but there's a minimal amount of off topic weebshit, waifuposting, avatarfagging, and image macros as well as /pol/posting compared to the rest of the site. Big plus. The advice and recommendations are usually solid from my experience especially if you're looking to get into something new, and in general the subject of the board is appealing enough to just about anyone that it can maintain an engaging spread of thread topics at all times. Even the shitposts are usually funny like that food comedy thread a while back with that guy that designed an oreo themed standup routine. There's some pretty skilled chefs that post from time to time and the cook-alongs are nice for someone like me that has no idea what they're doing in the kitchen.

The stuff I don't care for like Joey/Jack and the webm threads I can still see the... appeal of so they don't particularly bother me. It's just a really relaxing board to browse and it can be awfully funny at times (although that may just be my poor sleeping habits since everything is funnier at 4am.)

I've been on /ck/ since 2008 or 2009 but the last year or so has been long breaks intermittent with periods of activity. When I have been on 4chan in the last couple months, it's been /gif/ or /out/ and rarely /ck/.

I'm busy and the reward for browsing /ck/ is declining. I find the overall posts to be boring; quality troll and entertaining threads are few and far between. YouTube threads forcing personalities are lame too.

tldr; another /ck/ fag complaining about how the board used to be better.

I've been on /ck/ for two years, I swear over the last year it's turned to shit. I actually used to learn useful cooking advice from this board, but I don't think I've learnt anything useful here in over a year now. I'm starting to see the same rehashed threads over and over and for some reason this board is being raided by vegans with about 5 vegan-related threads at any one time. It's at the point where maybe one in ten threads is even worth opening, and on a slow board like /ck/ that means that you can't really spend more than an hour here every few days.

Yeah, you're right, but there are two vegetarian threads in the catalogue. I haven't been to /ck/ in a few weeks because it's getting shit, but there used to be at least two vegan food threads and multiple threads on the morality of veganism at any one time. Thank god it's stopped.

/ck/ is good but losing a lot of its old users and memes.

Literally the only thing I hate about it are the vegan posters who act like niggers and take everything personally. mcchicken and jack threads are...i don't want to say that they're killing this board, but they make it so much less appealing. a "fast food general" sticky or regular thread would vastly improve this board.

the best threads are the actual OC ones — the anons who take the time to cook and bake stuff and show their process. sometimes it turns out well, some times it doesn't. but they learn from it, because the nice thing about this board is that there are people who actually give constructive criticism. i started baking bread a few weeks ago, and the tips i've gotten here have been supportive and informative.

plus, occasionally we're blessed with things like sleepytime chicken threads.

I don't have any complaints really. /ck/ has high quality memes and there's still decent cooking threads. The only thing that can ruin threads is that you guys fall for trolling entirely too easily, as bad as facebook/youtube commenters. Sometimes people post the most obvious bait (e.g. do americans really eat this?) and some of you guys just get entirely too flustered and buttangry about it.

Though oftentimes that stuff makes me laugh quite often, and jack memes just fucking kill me. All and all this is still one of the best boards.
