I tried Spam on a whim recently, for the first time since I was a kid.

More than anything else, it was SALTY. I didn't mind the flavor, but the salt was just overwhelming. I forced myself to eat perhaps half the can, just so I hadn't quite wasted all my money, and pitched the rest.

Would eat in post-apocalyptic survival conditions, but otherwise, fuck that stuff.

Spam is a bit too salty for my taste. I mean that shit tastes even saltier than ordinary bacon, and that shit is like pure salt.

This. Spam cost me $4 for a 12 ounce can.
I just bought a real ham for 59 cents a pound. It was just over $4 for an 8 pound ham, so unless you dont have a fridge I prefer the real stuff.
But I still love spam, its about the easiest convenience meat. Boneless, pre-cooked and has that weird jelly. The shank portion ham I bought is kind of a pain in the ass to deal with, bones, fat chunks, gristle, skin, and not homogeneous.
