You just have to look up how to prepare them properly. Most Americans grow up in homes where they pop open a bag of frozen veg and steam them till they're droopy. No shit kids grow up hating that.

I'm fat and I think most vegetables taste delicious. You just have to prepare them right. For a long time people just boiled them and maybe tossed them with some butter and salt. This isn't a very good way to make anything taste good. Add some aromatics and herbs. Roast them when it's appropriate.

loads of fat people love vegetables, i'm willing to bet there's almost no correlation between vegetable hating and fatness.

also vegetables can have a really strong flavour. i eat more vegetables not because it's good for me but out of preference.

it does taste and if prepared properly can honestly eclipse the protein on the menu. I've fallen into the habit of using it as a side dish for health reasons but occasionally you'll go to a restaurant that uses vegetables properly and be reminded just how fucking unbelievably tasty and satisfying they can be. I keep telling myself I'll get more adventurous with vegetarian recipes but I don't. Lazy or dumb, I guess.

Some vegetables are an acquired taste. For me one was cherry-tomatoes. I couldn't stand them until I went to college and every salad I ate had them. People who hate vegetables as an adult probably carried on that preference from childhood, where the bitter flavors more common in vegetables like brussel sprouts, cooked spinach, and arugula are especially off-putting and sharp to the unexperienced palates of children. Either that or their parents prepared them poorly, in a way that gave them unpleasantly squishy/rubbery textures and off tastes, and now that's what they associate with vegetables in general.

That said, you can prepare vegetables in very appetizing ways, and many carry their own delicious flavors, like squash, tomatoes, pepper, broccoli, carrots, celery, etc.

They're pretty interchangeable. Roasting is usually uncovered, on higher heat and the surface of the food should be brushed with oil or some other kind of fat. It also refers to the consistency. If you put dough into the oven, it bakes into bread, not roasts.

Depends on how you cook it actually.

I found store bought rucola absolutely disgusting but when a chef in a chique hotel made it for me once, I loved it.

The origin of the product is important aswell.

Asking here because I don't want to start a new thread.
Will the quality of my leafy greens be diminished if I chop them the day I bring them home and then cook them later throughout the week, as opposed to chopping and cooking at the same time?

>compare it to a delicious piece of meat

Do you actually think a piece of meat will always taste better than a vegetable, all else being equal?

That's fucking crazy, man.

cutting most plants makes them taste worse. Its part of the plants immune system, the plant realises it's being eaten and releases bitter chemicals, it's better to cook leafy green plants as soon as possible after preparing.

It turned out fine, there was little difference if any in comparison to chard that would've been freshly chopped. Next time I'll do a blind taste test with family and friends to see if they would consistently rate chard that was chopped freshly, differently to chard that was chopped on day of purchase.
