I do this kind of thing every weekend. I'll go to the store and buy all the ingredients for a big multi course meal. Spend all day cooking. Drink a bunch of wine. Eat it on the sofa listening to the radio and half-assedly browsing 4chan on my phone while sort of reading a magazine and thinking about finishing that book on the coffee table, then throw the rest in the fridge where it slowly rots over the next week. Last weekend's project was about $80 worth of ingredients, although it involved stops at different stores to buy different things, and I kind of lost track.

It's gotten to the point where it feels completely normal. I've stopped texting the friends I used to see a couple of times a year. Actually, as I type this, an old friend I haven't seen in 10 years is in town, he texted me last month and said he'd be in the area and suggested we meet up. I stared at his message for a few days trying to figure out how to reply, realized I forgot how to talk to people when workplace roles don't tell me exactly how to act, and slowly accepted the fact that I will never talk to him again.

Anybody got any suggestions for this weekend's project? Last weekend's was lamb themed, the parts that ended up in the trash really stank up my place before I ended up gathering the courage to take out the trash and possibly run into a neighbor.

This, pretty much.

Last weekend for me was cajun foods.

I smoked boudin and made a killer shrimp etouffee from scratch. Roux + the holy trinity makes for god-tier foods.

Baked fresh bread and had a salad with all sorts of greens.

Ate it all myself while getting blackout drunk on gin.

On the bright side, I brought some to my closest coworker on Monday for lunch and he loved it.

Here's a picture of the etouffee dancing, I guess. Shame that the photo doesn't do it justice.
