So like an idiot I found an opened package of pre peeled garlic on the.counter at my girlfriends house, the christopher ranch kind. I started chopping and cooking it with some eggs this morning. I later noticed a bad smell from the packaging and checked to see it was expired shortly after eating said eggs. I understand botulism grows in room temperature with olive oil, but was unsure if it could in pre packaged peeled garlic. I need to know if I need to go to a hospital asap or not. Someone please respond.

Botulism grows in anaerobic environments.

If it smells off, get rid of it. Otherwise you're most likely fine only eating a little.

Next time store your peeled garlic (lol) in a sealed container in the refrigerator like a normal person (who buys peeled garlic).

Pre peeled garlic is pretty obvious when it's bad, because it grows visible mold and rot, and it gets soft or rubbery sometimes, or slimy, depending on storage conditions

If it looked fine, and had fresh garlic texture, it is fine
