Griddle Pan Waffles

Ingredients

2 free-range eggs
300 ml milk
225 g self-raising flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
100 g unsalted butter , melted and cooled, plus about 1 tsp extra

Tap For Method
Ingredients

2 free-range eggs
300 ml milk
225 g self-raising flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
100 g unsalted butter , melted and cooled, plus about 1 tsp extra

Crack the eggs into a bowl, add the milk and whisk to combine. Sift in the flour, baking powder and salt then whisk until fully combined. Add the cooled melted butter and gradually stir it through the mixture. It’s important not to stir the mixture any more after this or your waffles may be tough.

Place your griddle pan over a high heat, add the extra teaspoon of butter and as soon as it’s melted pour in the waffle batter and spread it around to fill the pan. You could also make smaller waffles, if you prefer – you’ll need to do 2 at a time.

Lower the heat to medium-low and cook the waffles for around 6 minutes, or until lightly golden on the bottom. Flip over and continue to cook for around 6 minutes, until golden and cooked through. (It can be tricky to flip a whole waffle, but be bold and go for it – if it breaks, don’t worry, you can rock the rustic look.)

Give the waffle an extra couple of minutes on each side to crisp up, then serve them with your toppings. I like mine with bacon, egg and maple syrup, but you can serve them with berries and yoghurt, or whatever you like.

Shouldn't eggs be the main ingredient in egg recipes? Like huevos ranchdressings and whatever. If you're going to be posting cakes, where do you draw the line?

>> No.6941001

>>6940976
Eggs have to be a major part or have to be explicit or the base of the recipe. Thus, stuff like cake doesn't really fit. Really though, I don't really mind as long as it is interesting.

shitty drunk breakfast sandwich

get an english muffin toasting. melt a tablespoon of butter in a small nonstick pan. when the butter is melted and the pan is hot, crack and egg and throw it in. when the white is almost set on top, place a slice of american cheese on top of the egg, and cover with a lid. let it cook another 30s-1min. plate the muffin, and dump the egg on one of the slices, drizzling the butter all over the place. pair with the remainder of your beer.

When I was a kid, my grandmother would make us creamed eggs on toast for breakfast sometimes. It's a delicious and great way to use up hardboiled eggs. I still make it every Easter out of tradition.

Ey man, kinda new to cooking that seems like an easy thing I could try to make. Post the recipe here maybe?

>> No.6941491

>>6941470
Sure thing, bro.
It's super easy.
>hardboil some eggs, cool and peel
>make a bechamel sauce (if you need instructions for that, I'll give you that as well)
>You can add the eggs one of two ways. You can chop up the whole eggs, and add them, or you can mash the yolks and whisk them into the sauce and then add the chopped egg whites.
>Season the creamed eggs well; salt, plenty of pepper, a bit of nutmeg
>you can also add chopped ham, bacon, or even spinach to the creamed eggs.
>serve on hot toast triangles

oh, forgot to say a little mustard added to the bechamel is great too. And I also like to sprinkle the top of my creamed eggs with minced chives or scallions.

No problem, and your welcome!

Bechamel Sauce (aka Cream Sauce):
>melt 2 tablespoons in a heavy saucepan
>whisk in 2 tablespoons flour, and cook, stirring constantly, until the paste bubbles, for a couple minutes, but don't let it brown!
>add 1 1/2 cups of hot milk, whisking constantly to keep the sauce smooth
>bring sauce to a boil, then lower heat and continue cooking for 2 to 3 minutes more or until sauce is thick and smooth.
>season sauce with salt and pepper, a bit of nutmeg if you have some, and a bit of mustard if it's for the creamed eggs.

Heard saying it improves texture. Don't do that myself. A splash of cream, on the other hand, does.
