There are a lot of varieties of apples, as you know. Did you try some? What ones do you like the most?

I didn't even like apples until I decided to go to a local market and buy two apples of 5 kinds. I decided that some of them are really tasty and I sure as hell want more.

OP here,

I'm not from USA, so yeah, I won't probably be able to eat most of these you post. I've tried Galas and they're really tasty.

If you're not from USA either (like me), also post apples exclusive to your region. That might be interesting.

My country only has fuji (the only one I like) and gala. Bought an expensive pink lady last month and it's shit. Same for red styrofoam and green apple.

Also try a superior fruit. I ate these on a daily basis. I would choose bananas + cinnamon for last meal. easily on my top 3 tastes of this world.

I thought the Winesap and Stayman were the same thing tor like the last 15 years because I can't find winesap anywhere.

Now I don't know. Some places say they are and some say they are not.

I really liked eating Winesap apples when I was a kid but now I prefer Granny Smith to the Stayman.

From Britain. The best varieties are the ones that will grow well natively. Most people will hear about how great variety x is. It may be great when grown in the right conditions abroad, but supermarkets (where most people buy their food) are very dodgy for fresh food.

For example, if you like granny smith then try Egremont Russett grown natively. The first has a one dimensional sour flavour, the latter is also sour but has this balanced out with sweetness and firm flesh. Find what you like in an apple and then find its equivalent grown natively (preferably from your own tree so you can pick it just right)

>> No.6922512

I live near a major apple growing region, so I've had a lot of varieties of apples. My favorites as of this year so far are:
Fuji
Arkansas Black
Mutsu

The Arkansas Black and Mutsu are just starting to come in. And then there'll be more varieties coming in the next month. I like super crisp apples, both sweet and tart.
As far as red and golden delicious varieties go, I used to hate them, and they still aren't my favorites, BUT, when you eat one that's been picked right off the tree, it's still crisp and juicy and sweet, and pretty wonderful. It's when they've traveled or been stored for a long time (which is what they were designed for) that they get that mealiness that's disgusting. If you can ever try a fresh picked Delicious, they're pretty good, but still not as good as other varieties.

Also,
Asian pears are better than apples any fucking day. So sweet, so crisp, so juicy....hnnnnnngggg......
