Bruh the fat is the best part (the tender melty bits not the tough strips)

I don't think fine dining is for everyone since people have different tastes and preferences. I like the artistry, the work and thought as well as the taste that goes into a tasting menu. It's $135 for 9 courses of delicious food +extras and a nice night out so I don't think it's overpriced. We spent about 3 hours there, chatting and discussing the food while eating it. I suppose I'd liken it to going to a sports match or the opera. If it's your thing you would happily pay up to enjoy it once in a while other people would view it as a waste of money.

It makes sense for them to either automatically add gratuity or to just inflate the menu prices to a level reasonable enough to pay high end servers a wage much better than minimum. But higher end restaurants should always have good and highly trained service and in that setting tipping seems antiquated and low brow. >you're right about the wine volumes

you had half the menu and he might be a slow drinker. if you're getting a large scale menu with wine flight and you gulp it down, you get your glass refilled a couple of times on a few given courses, you can get through like at least a couple of bottles by yourself easily.

>> No.6891089

The portion sizes look too small, especially the pork belly. Even taking into account the number of courses. IDK though, did it feel like enough food?

I know that if your only objective is to fill your stomach you can do it for a few $'s, but it still feels like an insult if you leave a restaurant wanting more.

I actually agree with a "that guy" for once, I hope it tasted great because the pics convey poorly, they are all dark and muddied colors with the exception of the duckotash, not that you eat colors, but for how expensive that shit is it should look a little better, also am I the only one that thinks tasting menus are sort of stupid when you could just offer each dish ala carte, and people could mix and match what they want without your say in which order they should eat it? unless this place did that then disregard.

yes, i have. i remember when i first went there me and my ex were standing outside the toilet talking about how hammered we were. then next time when the tasting menu was made standard, some chick spat the purple pate de fruit on the tablecloth when she heard it was beetroot (even though it was actually orange) and bombed it out of there to blow chunks, they had to call a cab early. why are you so keen to act like fine dining is free of this shit? they fucking ply you with food and booze, you go to these places to be treated like a king. some people aren't used to that.

You don't get free refills on a wine flight. The more you talk, the more obvious it is you haven't got a clue

The chefs might, but the other cooks probably still don't. I work at a 1 star restaurant in SF and I still get paid like shit.

shit is hilarious
my brother used to live near a harolds chicken and some fancy chef bought the store next to it and put a restaurant in there
didnt even have a sign, just the address on the front. my brother told me old black men were always going into the upscale restaurant looking for food and kept getting the wrong door lel

It was plenty of food. The bf was stuffed and I was quite full. Not overstuffed, but well satisfied. I did want more of the duckotash though...

the lighting in the restaurant wasn't great for photographs and my phone is kinda shitty
the food looked fantastic and i thought the plating was really cute

i'd totally go for a mix n match tasting menu, but I think too much work goes into the dishes for them to be able to offer such flexibility

Only in the US the waiters are paid below minimum wage and *need* tips to live. The minimum wage is low compared to cost of life, too.
In normal countries, employees are paid for their job by their employers and don't have to beg clients for a bonus.
