Went fishing a while ago at Loch Long, beautiful place. Caught about 10 mackerel, fried them up with some potatoes that I cut earlier that morning right on the beach. Great day.

I like tilapia. However, I see ne reason for it to be particularly revered nor particularly hated.

Both my parents sell fish for a living.
You think I would be sick of eating fish, hell you're fucking wrong.

But I think it's difficult to relate to fish on the internet, since it's so regional and types and taste of fish differs.

Blue Grenadier for life.

Yeah we throw them back where I live as well, fun to catch though. The only thing they're good for is smoking.

Does that mean most farmed fish is raised in sewage then? I've seen tilapia in freshwater where I live, I'd imagine they are pretty good to eat.

>> No.6880870

>>6880858

No. Tilipia in particular. That's the whole reason they are popular as a farmed fish--they can tolerate shitty conditions that would kill other fish and therefore are very easy to farm with a minimal amount of effort (or hygenic standards). They can live in much more cramped and dirty conditions than most fish can. In some places of the world it's common to raise them together with chickens. The chicken cages are located above the tiliapia ponds. The fish literally eat the chicken shit as it falls down into the water.

Except they're nowhere near as tasty or useful as pigs are. Farmed tilapia is extremely bland.

Bought seabream recently. It isn't native here, so I had never tasted it before. Just used som basic seasoning, herbs, slices of lemon and threw it on the bbq. Was pretty good.

Going fishing this weekend. Hope to get a couple of perches or smaller pikes.

They're nice if really fresh. Don't stay fresh for long though, even by comparison with other fish.

Growing up I remember going to a market and buying some fried fish in butcher paper from an old lady. It was pretty fucking good.

Nowadays I just eat tuna out of a can or salmon fillets. My parents love to fry tilapia on the gas stove outdoors once a week in the summer.

It's crazy fish time here in NorCal. Salmon season is about to start, along with sturgeon. Trout is plentiful and tasty, halibut is coming along, and right now it's that beautiful tiny window of time where abalone is available. Fuck yes. I've been eating fish every day for a week now, and have no plans on stopping for the next 4-6 months. Having some pan seared salmon with orange-achiote sauce tonight. Last night I had snow crab, king crab, and grilled trout. Tomorrow, who knows.....maybe I'll see if my fav sushi place has gotten any more abalone in and have some more abalone sashimi and some mackerel. I fucking love mackerel.
I also am a fan of snacking on smoked clams, sardines in olive oil, pacific white anchovies (which are meatier and milder than Atlantic/Mediterranean anchovies, you can eat them like you would sardines), and sprats.

Worst way to eat fish. I like fish and chips occasionally, but really, fried is the worst thing you can do with fish.
