What are these? Given to me by coworker. She claimed they were lemongrass and thyme, which they clearly aren't.

The leaf on the left does smell lemony when crushed, maybe slightly minty as well. The right stalk, when crushed, smells somewhere between sage and thyme, with a citrusy note (perhaps orange?)

Anyway what the fuck are these? Are they even edible?

Congratulations,
Your coworker is the typical female idiot.
They're probably just random plants she found.

The leaf should be Melissa officinalis

Thank you for your productive comment.

About the leaf being lemon balm, it doesn't have deep ridges. It's smooth, more like a basil, but definitely doesn't have that basil smell, at least to me.

OP here.

The left is young lemon balm. So says my "expert" source, but I'm not convinced. Even young, it is totally flat, has no ridges or impressions. Oh well.

The right is prairie sage, in the same family as wormwood. Not edible in any meaningful quantity.

You'd know right away if it was lemon balm rubbing it between your fingers would make it smell.

Looks like lemon balm to me tho.

>why dont gurls d8 nice guys such as le self?

Anyway, left is definitely lemon balm. I used to grow it in my kitchen, and when crushed it does have a light lemon scent, with a touch of mint undertone. Good for drink garnishes, or light tea for upset stomachs.

OP here. I actually thought it was either lemon balm or thai basil, and something in the tarragon family, but not sage. I just didn't say it first.

>>6737669
Not too far off from my initial thought. Prarie sage is in the same family as tarragon and wormwood. So...

Also uh, obligatory Tits or gtfo.
