Help me build my liquor cabinet from nothing to something. So far I'm planning to buy:

>Bourbon
Jim Beam

>Rye
???

>Vodka
Stolichnaya

>White rum for mixing
???

>Sippin' rum
???

>Gin
???

>Liqueurs
Pastis, Crème de cassis, ???

Zaya is pretty solid sipping rum.

>Gin
Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire. Pimm's if you can get it.

For the bourbon consider Evan Williams black label instead of the Jim Beam.

Call me retarded, but I should mention that certain bottles and labels really appeal to me and influence my decisions.

Pimm's and Evan Williams both look very nice.

Nah man, stay away from Evan Williams. If you really want a good budget bourbon, go for Old Benchmark No. 8

Congratulations, you're human.

>White rum for mixing

This (and anything you'll only use for mixing really) is where you'll want to spend the least. that doesn't necessarily mean offbrand stuff, just don't bother with anything too upmarket. If in doubt, bacardi is a good shout.

>Liqueurs
you'll want some sort of curacao or triple sec at least. Anything you can get hold of that you'll end up using in a lot of dranks on this list is a good investment, like amaretto for example:

Irish Mist is pretty good for a liqueuer, so is Godiva white chocolate liqueuer, it goes nicely with cognac which you also have. 2:1 or 3:1 cognac:godiva makes for a fattening but very good drink. As far as I know, I invented that one myself with a girlfriend who helped me test it.

... should also have for cognac...

It's also good to have some tequila. Don't get crap, but get something that's good for mixing like a silver and also something good for sipping like Patron Reposado or Herradura Reposado. I find the reposados to be better tasting and at a better price than the anejos which I find have a bit of a metallic taste to them.

I'd definitely recommend Hendrick's for your Gin, if you're big on gin. Tried Bombay Sapphire after the Hendricks and it just didnt work for me.
I actually really liked drinking the Hendricks on its own, Can't say the same for the Sapphire

For the bourbon, go with Old Grand Dad 100. It's a lot better than Jack or Jim and I'd say it tastes better than quite a few high-tier bourbons.

That is an attractive design. Can't say I've ever seen it in my city before, but I will look again.
