I have a really good Döner place about 5 minutes from my house, about every two weeks when I'm to tired to cook or don't have any leftovers I stop by on my way home

>> No.6680973

little tex-mex place in town called taqueria vallarta there're, like, 2 resturaunts that aren't fast food and this one's pretty good.

the waitresses all know my name, what I like to eat at different times of day/week and my beverages of choice based on weather. food's free on my birthday(not a usual custom for this place) and I somehow always get larger than usual helpings.

it really does pay to over-tip. besides the place is CHEAP even with a $2 tip it costs less than $10 to get a really good feed...

if I'm in an adjacent town there's NY Joes(Italian food, good Stromboli) in Alice, and Sylvia's Pasteries(it's also a taco shop; damn fine Carne Guisada) in corpus...

I have been going to a Sichuan chinese restaurant in my neighborhood for a few years now. The menu is huge and I've never had anything I didn't like. Whenever I'm wanting something with bold flavor I go there.

Pic related is their mapo tofu. I get the dumplings in spicy sichuan sauce every single time. One of my top 3 favorite dishes of all time

groveland tap. awesome $5 poutine that is like fries with cheese curds and really good beef stew poured in a little skillet. they have all their appetizers $5 during "happy hour", which is actually most of the day. their fried pickles and giant soft pretzels are awesome and they have a breakfast burger on a cinnamon roll.

Where is that and why do they place the sandwiches upside down? The fries are probably upside down also. Are you from Australia

>> No.6683091

I started cooking over 20 years ago. I learned that my food is much better than shit costing twice or three times as much.

The last time I dined at a restaurant was with friends a few weeks back. We drank all night and went out to Ram's Horn restaurant for a shitty breakfast.

But hey, when folks are lit up like a Christmas tree, everyone is just wanting food in the gullet, not exquisite cuisine.

hardly ever go out to eat tbh unless its a relatively formal/family dinner so I don't really have a 'go to' in that sense, but I do occasionally go to subway to get the meatball sub if I'm nearby and fancy one

that shits delicious, though that said its been nearly a year since I had one
