So /ck/ how do you feel about vegetarians/vegans? I personally have a deep seeded hate for them. I hate their "food", their pompous attitude. I really just hate everything about them, but what I hate more then them is what they are doing to food. They ruin it. Sure there are good salads, but their health food nonsense drives me insane.
I dont know, I hate them. What about you?

No, I guess I should elaborate a bit.
See, salads and things like that are fine and dandy, what I dislike is when people want to outlaw meat in favor of all vegetarian food.
What I hate is when people spout that meat kills you and insist that your body is some sort of temple.

I dont hate vegetarian foods, I hate what they insist food should be.

I'm a vegan but I hate telling people. I like to keep it to myself.

I do it because I get better performance athletically (I do triathlons) and I have a deep empathy for living things (the kind with nervous systems).

The meat industry is also bad for the environment and red meat is proven to be bad for you. I must admit that health and longevity is an obsession of mine.

>pic related

The cow obviously enjoys living and breathing just like I do, and it surely doesn't need to die for my substance, evidenced by the fact that I've been vegan awhile and I don't feel any deficiency in my body.

I don't eat meat at all but it started as a joke. I was pretending to be a vegetarian to fuck with my meat-loving friends and decided to see how long I could do it for. I realized that not only did I not really care for meat in the first place but there is almost always a naturally vegetarian option. I don't have to go out of my way to bother others with my dietary needs. I just eat. Most people don't even notice that I'm vegetarian. I don't even care about animals or any potential "health benefits" or anything like that. I just eat what I like and I've been doing it for five years now.

But it can. If you can't make a decent meal with all the vegetables, fruits, pulses, grains, spices and herbs at your disposal, plus eggs and dairy products for vegetarian meals, you are a shitty cook. If your enjoyment of a meal depends solely on whether there is meat in it and you cannot appreciate any of the hundreds of delicious meals that don't contain meat, you have extremely stunted tastes. This. I'd much rather eat a vegetable based meal than eat poor quality meat. I'll take beans over supermarket quality chicken or foodservice grade ground beef. If something died for my meal it had better be goddam delicious (and I'll happily pay more for that), otherwise it's just a waste.

Why would I have a problem with vegans or vegetarians? I've never come across a vegetarian or vegan who was an asshole about it. Yes, if you ask them they're going to answer your question.

In my country we eat a lot of shitty and overcooked meat. I simply don't care for it and seriously don't get why others do. Meat is fucking glorious when it's good. I would love to see a shift away from low quality meat. I have a lot more respect for a vegetarian than the guy who claims he needs his "brotein" with every meal - fuck that's pathetic.

I'm not a vegetarian and I think veganism is borderline insane but I think everyone would be better off being a little more skeptical about what they shove down their throats.

I've been vegan for a few years. I like it, but it's a personal choice. I don't care if other people aren't vegan. I would like it if they were, but most people never will be, and I'm not retarded enough to think otherwise, so I'm well over that. The only "preachy vegans" I've ever met have been fags about everything, not just being vegan, and they're also usually new vegans. New vegans are as bad as new atheists, for sure. I don't like most imitation meat or cheese, but Gardein Chick'n Sliders are pretty good, and I like vegan burgers since they're really just bean patties most of the time. Daiya cheddar slices and veganaise are pretty good, too. But the "if you want to eat meat, just eat meat, not imitation" argument is something I agree with for the most part.
tl;dr I don't care if people aren't vegan, and some of the criticisms people make are totally valid, but I wish people would recognize that the biggest faggot vegans were faggots before they went vegan.

Ironically, the only obnoxious faggots I ever see on this board when it comes to this debate, and even in real life, are people like OP, OPENLY FUCKING ANNOUNCING how much they hate those who don't eat meat.

The steretotype should be reversed because it's easily meat-eaters who are the overly obnoxious ones, and all it comes down to is an immature false-dichotomy where OP's type assumes that because "they like something different to me" that they must be their enemy.

I understand vegans, but I don't see myself going down that road just yet. There is sympathy between humans and animals, you can feel their suffering if you witness it with your own eyes. The problem is people don't understand this sympathy, because they only see meat(food) and not an actual cow, pig, chibken behind it. Don't get me wrong, I love meat and all of our ancestors did. However, they were way much in touch with environment and nature 50, 100+ years ago. To hell with it, a lot of civilizations even had big respect for animals, because they provided them with not just food, but also skin. Same as today, but they knew it isn't just matearilistic object. My problem is with people that defend meat, but don't have the heart to chop off chicken head, put bullet into pigs brain when he is yelling in top of his lungs while 3 men are holding him down so he can't escape the inevitable death. What are your thoughts on this?

It's part of life though and people have been doing it for thousands of years and they will continue to do it.

I have no problem with vegans or vegetarians. Just because I like meat doesn't mean that I feel compelled to eat 3 pounds of meat with every meal. I just hate fucking stuck up hipster assclown militant vegans that feel obligated to inform everyone around them that they are vegan and talk shit about anyone who chooses to eat meat.

Totally agree and I'm happy you don't lie about feeling unpleasant. Nobody feels good killing another animal with its own bare hands, unless you are ignorant scum with big dick ego over your head. In our hunting tradition, when you go to study andget your hunting degree (whatever you call it, so you can legally go and kill wild animals in season) with other hunters or your own..there is a proverb for ever animal you kill, so you show respect to it and nature. Not just kill it and laugh about it after the job is done. Half of my family are jagers (hunters) and they deeply respect animals and nature.

Also I must mention we have 'koline' in our country (at least those who have far), where we slaughter a lot of animals in a day or two for the meat over winter. Let me tell to all of you faggots thinking vegans are overreacting faggots when they say you don't feel bad or sympathy killing animal. When I was 6 and they let out the pig to shoot it in the head, while he was screaming as if someone tore down human skin while still being alive wasn't fun for kids. Parents put us inside the house so we wouldn't witness the shoot, but we could still hear the pig screaming and all of us felt bad as fuck, on edge of crying. Why? Because we were all aware that animal had kids and they killed its mom. Might sound funny, but this is the first instinct I AND other kids got. So where does this instinct goes over the years? The irony is I always laughed at my older cousin sticking finger in butchered pig and licking blood of, because he found it good. So you see, when you are young and are still sensitive about living beings, you don't want to see them die, because you believe it or not 'understand' them. Yes but by becoming vegetarian they are choosing to not support the industry that they don't like.

I think it's because when I was a kid, maybe 5 or so, I asked my mom what the burger I was eating used to be. I didn't eat meat again for almost 10 years. I've tried eating it at least a few times a year since then and it just feels "wrong". Not morally, but I can't even explain how it feels.
